Recently, significant developments have occurred in the investigation into Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. Ashley Merchant, the lawyer of former Trump aide and co-defendant in the Georgia election interference case, Michael Roman, was subpoenaed by the Georgia senate panel actively investigating the relationship between Willis and Nathan Wade.
During Merchant’s testimony, she shared evidence based on open records that Fani Willis had visited the White House along with the Mayor of Atlanta to visit Vice President Kamala Harris. “One of the other things I did was I did open records for the White House access. And we had records that Miss Willis and the mayor of Atlanta were at, meeting with the Vice President,” Merchant shared with the court.
The defense attorney further elaborated on the detailed tracking mechanisms that record visits to the White House. “And my understanding is it’s highly regulated who, who can access the White House and so you have to apply in person or apply ahead of time and then they give you a time when you make the appointment and they give you a time when you’re allowed to be in and when you have to be out by and they track you,” she said.
“And I mean, that makes sense. They don’t want anybody you know, lingering in the White House. But, but they they keep that and so these are they’re called wave records, I believe is what they’re called. And I’m not sure what that’s an acronym for but they’re publicly available. They’re open records,” she further explained to the court.
Documented evidence was then presented on a screen, supposedly confirming that Willis had traveled to the White House to visit with “VPOTUS.” The timing of the visit, which has no explanation as of now, was confirmed to have occurred before Trump’s indictment in the Georgia case.
“And this record that’s shown on the screen shows Fani Willis was a visitor. With the VPOTUS I presume that’s Vice President of the United States?” Merchant was asked. “Yes, yes, it was,” she responded. “And what was the date of that back in? Was that February sometime in ’23?” the judge inquired, confirming that the meeting between Harris and Willis occurred before Trump’s indictment in the RICO case. “Any further explanation of why Miss Willis was meeting with the Vice President of the United States?” he asked. “No,” Merchant decisively responded.
This new evidence has sparked speculation as to why Fani Willis was meeting with the Vice President prior to the Trump indictment. Social media users have drawn conclusions that there could be top-down corruption from the White House to thwart Trump’s reelection.
“This hearing just leveled up the absolute corruption & input from WH down! Ashley did so well today! Great job. If we don’t see accountability from all being revealed ….well I’m just saying ya can only placate so long! It better happen. NOW! This committee should subpoena KH!” one user commented on X.
