Was it wise for Trump to appear on CNN, given how hostile it generally is to him? Perhaps not, but the exercise turned out quite well for him. In fact, it turned out so well that Never Trumper Rick Wilson of the Lincoln Project posted an angry rant on Twitter about it, captioning the video “I have words.” Those words were:
“We’re in a break now from the Presidential town hall with CNN, Caitlin Collins, and whatever the fuck they thought they were going to get out of this. They instead have set a match to democracy once again, you are letting an insane person stand there and make people giggle and laugh when he jokes about rape. You make people giggle and laugh when he jokes about abortion when he calls an African American police officer a thug.
“This insanity should be pulled off the fucking air. Chris Licht you should be ashamed of yourself. This is astoundingly bad for the brand of CNN. It’s astoundingly bad for the country, and it’s astoundingly bad honestly, folks, for every other Republican candidate in the primaries, wrap that shit up. It’s done. You saw this tonight, you know you can’t beat him on the stage. Everybody else orders up time to go to work because he’s going to be the nominee. This shit is on fucking believable. I’ve never seen anything like it. It is a disaster of the highest fucking degree.”

While Wilson was right about one thing, Trump certainly being the nominee, his angry rant about Trump’s inappropriate comments is ironic given that his Lincoln Project was involved in a sexting scandal…with minors, as CBS News reported, saying:
Schmidt’s announcement comes after the Associated Press reported Thursday that the Lincoln Project’s leadership was informed in June 2020 of “at least 10 specific allegations of harassment against co-founder John Weaver, including two involving Lincoln Project employees.” New York Magazine also reported Thursday that leaders were aware of allegations against Weaver in June. In late January, the New York Times reported that 21 men accused Weaver of sending “unsolicited and sexually provocative messages online to young men.”
Former President Trump, for his part, responded to the criticism on Truth Social, saying:
Page 1: People are criticizing CNN for giving me a Forum to tell the TRUTH. I believe it was a very smart thing that they did, with Sky High Ratings that they haven’t seen in a very long time. It was by far the biggest Show of the night, the week, and the month!
Page 2: The Radical Left screamed, “Take it down, take it down,” during the Show, because they saw that I was making so many important points on the Border, Energy Independence, the Afghanistan Catastrophe, Inflation, the Economy, Russia/Ukraine, and so much more. Many minds were changed on Wednesday night by listening to Common Sense, and sheer “Brilliance.”
