WATCH: NBA Team Fires Christian Player for Criticizing Pride Month Celebrations

The Chicago Bulls have waived guard Jaden Ivey after he posted several controversial videos on various topics and then called out the NBA for celebrating Pride Month. The Bulls announced their decision regarding Ivey on March 30, 2026, stating they felt his conduct was detrimental to the team. Ivey’s video about Pride Month was posted earlier that same day.

Ivey called the league’s celebration of Pride Month “unrighteousness.” Ivey has posted several other videos with similar content over the last several weeks. The 24-year-old basketball player has stated in the past that he deals with depression. In his latest post, Ivey said, “The world can proclaim LGBTQ, right? They proclaim Pride Month and the NBA. They proclaim it. They show it to the world.”

“They say, ‘Come join us for Pride Month to celebrate unrighteousness.’ They proclaim it. They proclaim it on the billboards. They proclaim in the streets. Unrighteousness. So, how is it that one can’t speak righteousness? Who are they to say that this man is crazy?” he continued. Ivey later attacked Catholicism, proclaiming it to be a “false religion.”

Unfortunately, Niele Ivey, his mother, is the head women’s basketball coach for Notre Dame, a Catholic university, indicating she is part of the Catholic faith as well. According to Fox News, Ivey was originally traded to the Bulls as part of a three-team deal that involved his previous team, the Detroit Pistons, along with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Pistons drafted Ivey in 2022, hoping he would be a key piece in the team’s rebuild. He kicked off his professional basketball career with strong numbers, making the 2022-2023 NBA All-Rookie team after averaging 16.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game. He shot 41.6% from the field. Things seemed to be going well as he averaged 17.6 points a game during the 2024-2025 season.

However, things started going downhill this year, with him mostly playing off the bench for the Pistons before he was traded to the Bulls. Ivey only played four games with the Bulls before he was released by the team. A report from the New York Post revealed that Ivey got on Instagram and did a livestream to respond to his release, calling the Bulls “liars.”

“They’re liars, bro. This is lying,” Ivey said during the stream. “They’re lying saying my conduct is detrimental to the team. That’s a lie. Ask any one of them coaches in there, ‘Was I a good teammate?’ All I’m preaching about is Jesus Christ and they waived me. They say I’m crazy, right? I’m psycho.” He then added that he was “doing what was required of my job” by being in the gym and rehabbing when the Bulls released him from the team. Ivey was suffering from pain in his left knee when his season came to a close a week ago.

He then seemed to insinuate that Steph Curry was a fake Christian. “He don’t know Jesus and I pray he comes to the truth,” Ivey stated. “All that stuff isn’t going to matter on Judgement Day. All them rings he got. All them rings LeBron [James] got. All them rings Michael Jordan got.” Bulls head coach Bill Donovan responded to the decision to release Ivey by saying that “there’s a certain level of standards and expectations that are here.”
