While outside her San Francisco home, current congresswoman and former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi got in a shouting match with protesters. The protesters appear to have been from the anti-war feminist organization Code Pink: Women for Peace. Pelosi, yelling at them, said “Go back to China where your headquarters is,” an apparent reference to the group’s links to the Chinese state.
As background, Rep. Pelosi has remained more firmly in Israel’s camp since the October of 2023 Hamas surprise attack on Israel and the resulting Israeli counterstrike. That has landed her in hot water with those on the left who side with the Palestinians over the Israelis, generally because they see the Palestinians as an oppressed minority group treated poorly by the Israeli “colonists.” Hence why some in the hyper-progressive “Squad” have remained aligned against Israel.
Further, Rep. Pelosi enraged the pro-Palestine side of the left by telling CNN that those calling for a ceasefire in Gaza are spreading a pro-Russian agenda item and are helping Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin by doing so. “We have to think about what we’re doing, and what we have to do is try to stop the suffering in Gaza … but for them to call for a ceasefire is Mr. Putin’s message,” Pelosi said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
Continuing, she explained why she sees the pro-ceasefire talking point as helping Russia, saying, “Make no mistake, this is directly connected to what he would like to see. Same thing with Ukraine. It’s about Putin’s message. I think some of these—some of these protesters are spontaneous and organic and sincere. Some, I think, are connected to Russia. And I say that having looked at this for a long time now, as you know.”
Rep. Pelosi then went on to add that she thinks the Federal Bureau of Investigation should get involved in investigating the pro-ceasefire crowd because of that alleged Russia connection, telling “State of the Union” on her Sunday appearance, “I think some financing should be investigated, and I want to ask the FBI to investigate that.”
Those comments infuriated the head of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, Nihad Awad, who released a statement saying, “We are deeply disturbed by Former House Speaker Pelosi’s comments. Rep. Pelosi’s claim that some of the Americans protesting for a Gaza ceasefire are working with Vladimir Putin sounds delusional and her call for the FBI to investigate those protesters without any evidence is downright authoritarian.”
Continuing, Awad added, “Her comments once again show the negative impact of decades of dehumanization of the Palestinian people by those supporting Israeli apartheid. Instead of baselessly smearing those Americans as Russian collaborators, former House Speaker Pelosi and other political leaders should respect the will of the American people by calling for an end to the Netanyahu government’s genocidal war on the people of Gaza.”
In any case, the protesters from Code Pink, which has funding ties to Communist China, showed up outside her house in San Francisco and Rep. Pelosi was caught on tape yelling at them to “go back to China.” Tweeting about the incident, conservative X personality Collin Rugg posted, “NEW: Nancy Pelosi gets in a shouting match with protesters outside her home in San Francisco and tells them to ‘go back to China.‘”
Rugg continued, “‘Go back to China where your headquarters is,’ she was heard saying. The incident came just one day after Pelosi floated the idea that pro-Palestine protesters were paid for by Russia and called for an investigation. Now she is telling protesters to go back to China. This woman has lost it.”
