Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) recently discussed President-elect Donald Trump’s plan to pardon January 6 protestors in a post-election interview.  MTG, who has been a staunch advocate of defending those who protested at the capitol after the 2020 election, maintained her belief that all who have been criminally punished for their participation in the event should be pardoned.

Greene was asked by the reporter, “[Trump] has said on the campaign trail repeatedly that he’s going to pardon all of the January 6 defendants. Have you talked to him about that? And what do you expect that he’ll do there?” MTG responded, “Absolutely, I think January 6 defendants should be pardoned.  She added that this has been a consistent topic she has discussed with Trump, stating, “This is something that I’ve spoken with him a lot on.”

Continuing to the Georgia Republican said, “He said it openly on the campaign trail. He will pardon January 6 defendants.”  Calling out leftist rioters, MTG said, “Antifa, over 95% of them were never prosecuted. BLM rioters were bailed out of jail thanks to Kamala Harris and Ilhan Omar and others, and they weren’t prosecuted. January 6 defendants definitely should be pardoned.”

When asked by the reporter if all the J6 defendants should be pardoned, Greene replied, “I think they should all be pardoned.  They’ve been serving…many of them have been serving time in prison even before they were found guilty of these…A lot of these are ridiculous charges.”

Defending the J6 protestors, MTG added, “They didn’t kill anybody. The only people that were killed were Ashley Babbitt, a few other protesters there that day. They didn’t rape anybody. They didn’t kill anyone. They didn’t kill Lake and Riley. They didn’t kill any other Americans, like all these illegals that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris led in the country. They didn’t sell fentanyl across the country. They came in protesting the election, and some of them caused damage to the Capitol. Some of them fought Capitol Police. That’s exactly what Antifa and BLM rioters did every single night in 2020, it’s time to pardon these people. The federal government was politically weaponized against them. Again, it’s a complete political bias to prosecute January 6 protesters and rioters, but never go after Antifa.”

The American Tribune reported on great news for some January 6 defendants in September, when an appellate court vacated the convictions of nearly a dozen.  Julie Kelly commented on the news, stating, “WOW: Yesterday the DC appellate court vacated the 1512(c)(2) convictions of 11 J6 defendants including Guy Reffitt, the first J6ers convicted at trial. What a total humiliation of the DOJ and 17 DC judges (including Pan) who allowed this wrongful prosecution to happen in the 1st place.”

According to a court document, “Upon consideration of the joint motion to govern further proceedings, it is ORDERED that appellant’s conviction under 18 U.S.C. § 1512(c)(2) be vacated and the case be remanded for further proceedings. Pursuant to D.C. Circuit Rule 36, this disposition will not be published. The Clerk is directed to issue the mandate forthwith to the district court.”
