Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) fired back at Fox News last year after an opinion piece slammed her as an “idiot.” Speaking with political commentator and longtime Trump ally Steven Bannon on “War Room,” Greene criticized House Speaker Mike Johnson for caving to Democrats, defending her previous motion to vacate him.
As context, Fox News published an opinion article titled “Marjorie Taylor Greene is an idiot. She is trying to wreck the GOP,” that slammed her tactics as a congressional leader. Amid her efforts to out Johnson from his speakership, the article claimed that MTG was moving to “defeat her own party.” Addressing the accusation, Greene claimed her work has benefited the Republican Party.
Bannon introduced the topic, stating, “Now because of your efforts, and you know, Fox goes, Oh, she’s an agent of chaos. She’s a narcissist. Is all about her ego. Because of your action political reporting, they’re going to have a formal power sharing agreement, which they’ve had to date, but now that you’ve smoked them out, now they have to come forward, because they’re going to demand a flash like they’ve already been getting a pound of flesh. Now it’s all in the open.”
MTG responded, “That’s right, it’s out in the open. And you’re right. You know, Fox News called me an idiot. That was literally their headline. They called me an idiot.” However, she maintained she had done significant work to expose how the Democrats were allegedly manipulating Johnson.
“But what I’ve done is expose what was already happening in the dark. And I think, I think the beautiful thing about it is, is that Democrats have to come clean,” she said. “They were controlling. Mike Johnson anyway, he was giving them everything, wide open border policy, fully funded, fully in the dividing Department of Justice, fully funded.”
Continuing to list out concessions Johnson made to left-of-center causes, she added, “The FBI gave them a brand new building, paid for full-term abortion funding, paid for the trans agenda against children. He voted down warrant requirement for Pfizer. Then he gives $61 billion to Ukraine. And while he’s claiming that he’s helping Israel, he actually has them in the back with nine billion dollars to Hamas.
MTG further noted, “And then another three and a half billion dollars that Joe Biden is about to use to bring in so-called refugees from Gaza into America, and Joe Biden wants to give them citizenship. So this has already been happening, but the beauty of it is, is that Politico is telling the truth.”

In March of last year, The American Tribune reported on MTG filing a motion to vacate Johnson’s chair for allegedly betraying the Republican Party. “I filed a motion to vacate today, but it’s more of a warning than a pink slip,” she said at the time. “I do not wish to inflict pain on our conference and throw the House in chaos, but this is basically a warning.”
