Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, March 5, after meeting with the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), commented on the stunning level of fraud, corruption, and waste being exposed by DOGE as it digs through federal spending and finds out where American money is going.
As background, DOGE has been digging into Social Security, along with America’s similar large-scale entitlement programs, and found that much of the money is being stolen or wasted. For example, DOGE found that a foreign fraud ring might have stolen as much as $1 trillion from Social Security, draining the program.
Commenting on that situation generally, Rep. MTG argued to the media that the sort of fraud and wildly improper payments DOGE has discovered, such as that of the foreign fraud ring, is leading to the theft of American taxpayer dollars. She said, “The American people’s money has truly been stolen through an incredible amount of fraud and all types of improper payments.”
Continuing, she commented on some of the other avenues of fraud and waste, such as the massive number of long-dead people that it appears are still on the Social Security, saying, “Social Security numbers for dead people have been used and have been able to get things like small business loans and basically stolen it all.”
She then noted that Congress, in its roll as controlling the federal purse, needs to pay serious attention to what DOGE has discovered and start trimming appropriation bills to reflect the cutting of fraud and waste. She said, “We’ve got to work any type of DOGE cuts into our legislation and work into our budgets and appropriations.” Adding to that, she said, “A large amount of planning is happening.”
Rep. MTG further added, returning to the general scope and scale of the problem, that the huge amount of fraud and taxpayer-funded waste seen with not only Social Security, but federal spending generally, means that we have been utterly robbed. She told the reporters, “Basically, the American people have been robbed blind.”
Concluding, Rep. MTG then noted that the fraud and waste have been exacerbated by government computer systems that are outdated and inefficient. She said, “And it’s happening through improper payments, fraud, and a lot of systems that are just so old and outdated. Computer systems can’t even work together between departments.” Watch her here:

A commenter on a post from Mario Nawfal about MTG’s comments said that the fraud must be exposed and then the wrongdoers brought to justice, saying, “‘They donate your tax money to themselves via NGOs – They are nothing more than thieves’ ~ Elon Musk. The DOGE plan: Stop the fraud, collect the evidence, give it to the police & arrest the thieves so that they may stand for trial.”
Similarly, another commenter added, “It’s not just that the American people have been robbed blind; it’s compounded as much of the stealing has gone to Liberal Progressive Activist NGOs and Non-Profits that drive their ideology and kickback funds to Democrats’ politicians, families, and friends…”
