Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene recently sounded off on Department of Homeland Defense Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over the ensuing border crisis. Greene posted her speech from the House floor to X, stressing the dire need for the DHS secretary to be impeached.
“This is where it started last November. This Tuesday, our Homeland Security Committee will be moving to finish it. Secretary Mayorkas has the blood of 300 Americans per day on his hands from Chinese-made, Mexican cartel imported fentanyl alone. He has not just invited, but aided and abetted, the invasion of the world through our Southern border. Secretary Mayorkas willfully neglects his duty to safeguard America’s borders and its people. He is unfit to serve and must be impeached!” Greene said in her caption.
In her nearly ten-minute speech, Greene consistently echoed the sentiment among conservatives that Mayorkas should be impeached for failing to uphold the laws of the United States. “Rather than adhering to an oath he took to defend and secure our country and uphold the Constitution when he was sworn in. As Secretary of Homeland Security. Alejandro Nicolas Mayorkas has engaged in a pattern of conduct that is incompatible with the laws of the United States,” Greene said.
MTG points out that bad actors have taken advantage of the unsecured border as Mayorkas has failed to maintain control of the situation. Greene then cites the Constitution, alleging the federal government is responsible for providing sufficient protection to each state in the union.
“In his willful admittance of border crossers, terrorists, human traffickers, drugs and other contraband Alejandro Nicolas Mayorkas has failed to maintain operational control of the border thereby violating the Secure Fence Act of 2006. The guarantee clause set forth in Article four section four of the Constitution dictates the United States shall guarantee to every state in this union, a republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion, and on application of this legislature or of the executive when the legislature cannot be convened against domestic violence.”
At several points in her monologue, Greene illustrates the sheer volume to which illegal immigrants have poured over the United States border, originating from numerous countries. Greene claims that there have been millions of documented illegal border crossings, where roughly 1.8 million known “got-a-ways.”
“As Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Alexandra Mayorkas has violated his oath to uphold this constitutional duty by allowing the invasion of approximately 10 million illegals across our borders. The ongoing invasion at our southern border is a direct national security threat against the states And against the citizens there in,” she said.
MTG ultimately concludes that Mayorkas is wholly unfit to serve the nation, failing the sworn oath he took to uphold the laws of the U.S. After eroding the trust of the American public, Greene states that Mayorkas should be promptly removed from his post and barred from serving
“Alejandro Nicholas Mayorkas, in his inability to enforce the law has engaged in a pattern of conduct that is incompatible with his duties as a civil officer of the United States. Alejandro Nicholas Mayorkas in his failure to uphold the oath he took has by his actions lost the trust of the citizens of the United States to faithfully execute the laws of the United States were for Alejandro Nicholas Mayorkas thus warrants impeachment and trial removal from office and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the United States. Mr. Speaker, I yield”
