Speaking to Russell Brand, the actor who reinvented himself as a podcaster and converted to Christianity, in a podcast interview, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) sounded off on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), accusing the woke New Yorker of being a “fraud” for presenting herself as a leftist populist while really just toeing the party line on most things.
For reference, AOC has taken heat from the left recently for going along with a GOP-led vote providing more aid to Israel, something that most of her supporters and constituents are very much against but which she went along with regardless, belying the notions of many that she would stand up to the political establishment.
Commenting on that, Rep. MTG noted that AOC presented herself as a representative for the common person against the Establishment, but when it came to voting, the Squad member exposed herself as a fraud. Beginning her soundoff, Greene said, “I do think AOC is a fraud. I absolutely believe she’s a fraud.”
Continuing, MTG noted that AOC had presented herself as a whirlwind of anti-DNC Establishment force when she was first elected into office, and had even protested against the Democrat leaders. “She so she came in hard. Remember when she came in, she protested Nancy Pelosi, like led a protest in her office, against leadership,” the MAGA congresswoman said,
But then she went from being a warrior against the Establishment to being a toadie for the same people she once claimed to be fighting against, and so has fallen into line with what the Pelosi types want rather than resisting and changing it. Rep. Greene said, “She was supposed to be the one to change the Democrat Party. She’s fallen totally in line.”
Giving some examples of that, Rep. Greene noted that AOC has done everything from continue voting to fund the war in Ukraine to supporting the Israelis in their fight in Gaza, both of which the old AOC would have presented herself as fighting against but which the current congresswoman has ended up backing.
Commenting on that and arguing that it exposed what AOC is really about, MTG said, “She voted 100% for the Ukraine war, voted to fund all of that is, I mean sending funding weapons, everything. With her amendment, she exposed herself to be a liar about demanding the end of the genocide in Gaza.”

Concluding her point, the MAGA congresswoman argued to Brand that the general confluence of things has pushed AOC into exposing what she really is and the leftist base is finally starting to notice that she’s not really a populist, which is interesting. She said, “So she’s exposed herself, and her base is seeing it. But I and I think that’s interesting.”

The idea of pretend populist politicians not following through on their promises and turning into frauds is one that MTG has focused on lately. For example, posting on X about the need for politicians to follow through on their promises, this time with her comments directed at the GOP leadership rather than AOC, MTG noted, “If you tell the base of people, who support you, of deep state treasonous crimes, election interference, blackmail, and rich powerful elite evil cabals, then you must take down every enemy of The People.”
Continuing, she noted that not following through is a recipe for disaster, as the base will find someone new to follow. She said, “If not. The base will turn and there’s no going back. Dangling bits of red meat no longer satisfies. They want the whole steak dinner and will accept nothing else.”
