Jessica Gorman, the grieving mother of Sheridan Gorman, an innocent young woman who was murdered by an illegal alien, fired back at Democrats in Congress who whined about having to listen to her testimony concerning faulty immigration laws such as sanctuary policies that contributed to her daughter’s horrible murder.
In her opening statement, Gorman said, “No family should ever have to bury a child because public officials fail to put American lives first.” The testimony was part of a hearing before the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement. The suspect in the murder of Gorman’s 18-year-old daughter, Jose Medina, has entered a not guilty plea to charges of murder.
Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), who serves as a ranking member of the subcommittee, opened her statement by sharing her condolences with Gorman and Joe Abraham, whose daughter was killed after an illegal alien, drunk behind the wheel, collided with her vehicle. “Let me start by offering my deepest condolences to you, Mrs. Gorman, and to you, Mr. Abraham, for the loss of your children,” Jayapal remarked.
Then, suddenly, the compassion, what little there was, left her voice. “Unfortunately, this hearing is the fourth time in this committee that we’ve had a hearing on sanctuary cities. The fourth time,” Jayapal said to Gorman and Abraham. “And there’s many other things we could be doing other than this.” Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-WI) asked the two grieving parents if Americans should be “concerned” about sanctuary city policies, Gorman took time to respond to Jayapal’s comments.
“I just have to say one thing because it’s been plaguing me,” Gorman said. “I get so upset with your ‘buts,’ and you don’t want to talk about this. ‘This is the fourth hearing.’ You know what I’m thankful for? I’m thankful that my daughter was just shot in the back of the head. Not raped, murdered, dismembered, put in a garbage can.”
“And you can actually dismiss the angel families; you can say ‘but.’ You don’t want to hear four sessions on angel families? I’m sorry: You need to. You need to,” Gorman continued, according to a report from The Daily Signal. “How messed up is that?” the mother then asked. “That I’m thankful every day that she was just murdered. Not raped and dismembered.”
Gorman then called out House Democrats for backing sanctuary city policies. “Explain why people here illegally matter more than your American citizens,” Gorman said. “Explain why sanctuary policies matter more than my Sheridan’s life. Explain why cooperation with [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] too much was to ask for, but asking our American parents to bury our children is somehow acceptable.”

“My daughter paid for those failures—your failures—with her life,” she said to House Democrats. One user who commented on a video clip of the comments said, “IT IS UNACCEPTABLE. Jayapal is pure scum.” Another person wrote, “Of course, Ms. Jayapal has no feelings for Americans. How could she? She hates Americans and white people.”
