Recently, MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” criticized right-wing media for circulating footage of President Biden demonstrating his advanced age and seemingly diminished mental health. Many Americans are concerned about Biden’s age and the implications of his performance as the leader of the United States.
Throughout his presidency, Biden has had innumerable public slip-ups and gaffes in his public appearances. However, amid a slew of recent high-profile instances that have gone viral, the White House has stepped up and labeled the videos “cheap fakes,” suggesting they are misrepresentations of Biden.
The left-leaning panelists on “Morning Joe” took aim at conservative media for sharing the videos, suggesting they are desperate to attack President Biden by whatever means necessary. Co-host Joe Scarborough claimed, “That’s all they’ve got.” Mika Brzezinski said, “The Republican account circulating many of the clips responded, claiming the videos are unedited and promised to keep posting them.” Scarborough doubled down, repeatedly saying, “A lie, a lie, a lie.”
“They lie about their lies, which, of course, you expect liars to lie about their lies.” Scarborough continued, “They are only helping Joe Biden and lowering expectations.” The co-host proceeded to suggest that Republicans resort to blaming substance abuse in the instances in which Biden delivers a strong performance, such as this year’s State of the Union address.
“They do it before every State of the Union address, and after that, they are so freaked out that Biden did well, they say he must have been on cocaine,” he said.“But they are doing the same thing for the debate. They lower expectations, they say he is not cogent, then he does a good job, and they say, ‘What happened?’”
Brzezinski chimed in, suggesting that the Biden campaign is struggling to fight against “lies” and “disinformation.” She said, “And this is the problem, and this is why the debate, everything about this campaign will make somebody who is in support of democracy — and perhaps would even choose Joe Biden over Donald Trump just in support of democracy — is never going to have a chance against lies, disinformation, and crazy insults.” Watch the discussion from “Morning Joe” below:
The American Tribune reported on comments from White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre who recently blasted the unfavorable videos of Biden, suggesting they were “cheap fakes.” KJP criticized Republican, claiming they were being shared in “bad faith” to mock the president.
“Yeah. We, and I think you all have called this the ‘cheap fakes video,’ and that’s exactly what they are. They are cheap fakes video,” the press secretary said during a recent briefing. , “They are done in bad faith. And, some of your news organizations, have, have been very clear, have stressed that these right-wing, the right-wing critics of the president have a credibility problem, because the fact-checkers have repeatedly caught them pushing misinformation, disinformation,” she sadded.
Former President Donald Trump also addressed the recent controversy surrounding the so-called “cheap fakes,” Trump said to the crowd at a recent rally of his, “He’s blaming it now on AI. He’s saying, he doesn’t know what AI is, but that’s okay. Now they’re saying the media is manipulating… Oh, he’s saying the media is manipulating. Now, on that one, I have to stick up for the media, I have to tell you. He said the media is manipulating the pictures of him constantly, not knowing where the hell he is. They’re doing just the opposite. They’re making him look better at the G7 in Europe, and he had to be rescued by other world leaders and to pull him back,”
