A resurfaced clip from a 2016 interview shows legendary actor Morgan Freeman praising Tesla founder Elon Musk, breaking from the leftist narrative surrounding the multi-billionaire. The “Shawshank Redemption” star explained that he is a “huge fan” of Musk while discussing his investments in Tesla. Freeman applauded Musk for his contribution to technological innovation.
Aside from his recent foray into Republican politics, Musk has been increasingly supportive of conservative causes in the past several years, drawing ire from the left. The multi-company CEO unapologetically endorsed President Donald Trump after the failed assassination attempt against him in July and became intensely involved in Republican activism.
Sitting down with CNBC Freeman said, “I own Tesla. I’m a huge fan of Elon Musk. I think he’s got the most incredibly forward-thinking ideas about where we can go technologically. What he’s done, nobody else has ever done.” The actor added, “He’s landed from a rocket ship so that it’s reusable. Do you know what a feat that is. We’re going to be going to Mars, delivering stuff to people who are going to be sending bad just like they said will be a little West, and bringing those ships back and landing them.”
The American Tribune recently reported on Musk’s intended deployment of his Tesla Cybertucks to assist the victims of the Los Angeles wildfires. Reportedly, Musk was seeking to rollout a fleet of the EVs in concert with Starlink internet service to help recovery efforts in Southern California.
“Apologies to those expecting Cybertruck deliveries in California over the next few days,” the founder of Tesla and Starlink posted to X. “We need to use those trucks as mobile base stations to provide power to Starlink Internet terminals in areas of LA without connectivity. A new truck will be delivered end of week.” Elon said in another statement, “We are going to position Cybertrucks with Starlinks and free WiFi in a grid pattern in the areas that most need it in the greater LA/Malibu area.”
One person commented under Musk’s post, “California hates you and Trump.” Musk partially agreed with this statement, stating in response,”That is true of some people in California, and the press will of course accuse me of grandstanding, but, if this helps save even one house or maybe even someone’s life, we should still do it.”
Musk was also seen at President Donald Trump’s inauguration last week, where he became the victim of attacks from the left after a hand gesture was taken completely out of context. While speaking to Trump supporters in the Capital One Arena, Trump grabbed his heart before extending his arm to the crowd and repeatedly saying “my heart goes out to you.” However, some claimed the motion resembled a Nazi salute.
