Viral footage captured Kate Middleton and Melania Trump in their first public appearance alongside one another at Frogmore Gardens, where they met Scouts earning their “Go Wild” badge. Meeting with the children, the leading women helped with art projects, building “bug hotels,” and playing parachute games with the assembled children.
For context, Melania praised the artwork, while Kate shared her love for the outdoors, noting its role in her dramatic recovery from cancer. Kate, who herself was a Brownie and Scout Association president, gave our lunches made with her Norfolk honey, and Melania gifted White House honey, which many saw as a kind gesture.
In any case, the first lady spoke to the children with apparent ease, telling one child, “This is beautiful!” Speaking to another scout, the FLOTUS asked, “Show me how, what I should do,” while building the bug hotels. When one of the children asked what her favorite bug was, she noted that it was “A ladybug.”
Speaking about her recent recovery, Kate explained, “During my recovery, I spent a lot of time in the outdoors because that’s where I felt at peace.” Building on this point, she said, “Myself and the family come out to the Lakes as often as we can.”
Offering additional context to the clip, Dwayne Fields explained that “When people speak about themselves, it feels like they are giving you something, giving a little bit away, and not just there to take. That’s her superpower. She’s a wonderfully warm person and invites you into a conversation.”
As we reported, Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, announced she is “cancer-free” after nine months of chemotherapy, ending months of uneasy silence on the diagnosis. She stated, “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant, and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”
Describing her time with the disease, she revealed, “The cancer journey is complex, scary, and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you. With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything.”

Adding a view of how her health issues affected the family, she noted, “This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved. William and I are so grateful for the support we have received and have drawn great strength from all those who are helping us at this time.”
