In shocking news that former First Lady Melania Trump revealed to Fox Business’s Maria Bartiromo back in early October of 2024, and in her memoir, “Melania,” Melania said that both she and her son, Barron Trump, had been debanked by the cancel mob in what she characterized as a violation of his civil rights. The incident happened as the Trump family left the White House in the winter of 2021.
In her new memoir, Melania, the former first lady revealed that her bank had not only canceled her account but refused to let her son Barron open one, something that dismayed her. She said, “I was shocked and dismayed to learn that my long-time bank decided to terminate my account and deny my son the opportunity to open a new one.”
Continuing, she noted that the bank’s cancelation of her account and refusal to let Barron open one appeared to be rooted in anti-conservative discrimination. She also argued that that was a civil rights violation. She said, “This decision appeared to be rooted in political discrimination, raising serious concerns about civil rights violations.”
Melania, who refused to name the bank that discriminated against her and Barron, pinned the blame for the shocking decision on the “cancel mob” that has overtaken wide swathes of American life. She said, “The ‘cancel mob’ now includes corporations, traditional media, influential social media figures, and cultural institutions.”
She further added, “This disheartening trend reflects the current socio-political landscape in the United States.” Connecting her cancellation to the wider issue, Melania also noted, “The cancellation continues — an attitude by businesses both big and small that never ceases to surprise me.”
Pointing to another form of political discrimination, she added, “It is ironic that my business acumen is criticized, while other former government officials receive praise for similar endeavors, such as security multimillion-dollar media deals. This disparity can only be explained by biases related to my last name and political affiliation.”
Speaking to Maria Bartiromo, Melania also noted that a bank refused to accept donations she was garnering for a charity, saying, “[It] was all agreed that, they will accept my donations for the foster students and it’s because of the board of directors. They called back. They found out that it was me. They didn’t. They said, We cannot go on.”
Further, she added, commenting on who suffered because her charity was canceled for political reasons, “And it’s very, very sad because who suffered? They were children from foster community. They didn’t have a scholarship that somebody will provide for them. They didn’t want to do business with me because of political affiliation, my political, political beliefs. And you know that that was one one of them, one of the canceling project.”

Commenting on an X (formerly Twitter) post about the charity issue, the FLOTUS Report X account said, “I’d love to know which bank denied our great First Lady Melania Trump services, which email provider denied her services, and which university refused donations for foster children. This is unacceptable.”
