WATCH: Megyn Kelly Sounds off on Harris for “Deceptive” Editing of Trump Call with Waltz During BLM Riots

Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly recently slammed the Harris campaign for its “deceptive” editing of a phone call between former President Donald Trump and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.  The conversation in question pertained to the violent Black Lives Matter riots that devastated Minneapolis in the summer of 2020, in which a clip taken out of context appears to show Trump praising the Democratic state leader for his handling of the crisis.

During a segment with Daily Wire host Andrew Klavan, Kelly played the part of the call the Harris campaign has released of Trump, saying, “I fully agree with the way Walz handled it…he’s an excellent guy.”  However, playing the full audio recording of Trump’s comments provides additional context, as the former president was critical of Walz.

When listening to the entirety of Trump’s comments, it is clear he only applauded Walz after he deployed the National Guard as suggested by the former president.  Kelly pointed out, “You could hear him saying, ‘We’ve got all these men and women, we’ve got all the people you need, but people calling them up. You have to dominate …  You have to use the National Guard.’”

Kelly played the full audio clip where Trump said, “I know Governor Walz is on the phone and we spoke. I fully agree with the way he handled it. The last couple of days. I asked him to do that. And a lot of men, we have all the men and women that you need, and people aren’t calling them up. You have to dominate. If you don’t dominate, you’re wasting your time.

Then-President Trump continued, “The whole world was laughing. Two days, three days later, I spoke to the governor, the governor’s an excellent guy, and all of a sudden, and I said, ‘You got to use the National Guard in big numbers.’ And they did. And I’ll tell you that I don’t know what it was. Governor was the third night, what night those guys walk through that stuff like it was butter, they walked right through, and you haven’t had any problems.”

Kelly blasted Kamala Harris for the misleading clip that was taken out of context.  The host said, “Can you believe how deceptively that call has been edited?”  She continued, “The whole point of the call was Trump saying you were screwing it up then you talked to me and my defense secretary,” she added. “We told you to get the National Guard in there. By the way, you didn’t get all of them in enough numbers.”

Kelly highlighted the intent of the Harris campaign to paint the conversation as Trump endorsing the tactics of Governor Walz.  “And only when you did, did things get better for you.  And he’s talking with the other governors saying, that’s what you have to do. It has to be…in huge numbers in order to get the results you want. And Kamala Harris has released that with just those little snippets of praise as if Trump endorsed Tim Walz’s approach to this,” she added.
