Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett has been criticized for voting against President Donald Trump’s freeze on foreign aid spending. She was the deciding vote when the issue came to the Court, and this has left many questioning the wisdom of appointing her to the position. Megyn Kelly, the former Fox News host, laid into Barrett on her show.
Kelly lambasted Justice Barrett for being inconsistent with her conservative values. She said conservatives have been saddled with weak or inconsistent justices, and Justice Barrett gives conservative women a bad reputation. Many user on social media expressed their agreement with Kelly and frustration with Justice Barrett.
In a clip of the Megan Kelly Show, which was posted on X, on March 6, 2025, she said, “I’m worried about her. She’s a little squishy, and it’s, you know, concerning, I’ll tell you, as a female who leans right, kind of sick of like the female conservatives who get appointed at the Supreme Court, Sandra Day, O’Connor, now Amy Coney [Barrett], like being too squishy.”
She continued her objection and said she wants to see a female version of Justice Alito. She asked, “Why can’t we just get, like, just judge alien cannon down in Florida? Get a female Alito on there. Get somebody with some you know, rhetorical balls who will hold as fiercely to conservative principles in the judiciary as the left wing does, as Elena Kagan does to her liberal principles. Why are the women so squishy?”
The caption of the post expressed the widespread exasperation with the weak-willed Supreme Court justice. The post read, “Megyn Kelly Goes Off On Amy Coney Barrett. Barret is either on the take, family threat, or blackmailed. She is clearly no longer the justice Trump appointed to the high court.” Other users on social media echoed these thoughts.
One comment said, “McConnell was responsible for getting Barrett on the bench. We shouldn’t expect anything better out of her. She was a plant. Mitch sold out a long time ago. Roberts was placed by Bush.” Another noticed that, “It’s quite clear that Barrett was lying about being a constitutionalist. That was a bait and switch.”
Another comment added insight into Barrett’s Catholic background. He said, “She aligns with the Pope’s personal, political, and worldly views. She voted to overturn Roe, which matches both Catholic doctrine and the Pope’s stance. In Catholic circles, she’d be considered a liberal Catholic embracing leftist views. It’s hard to see how the Federalist Society missed this… unless they’re compromised, too.”

One reply continued this line of reasoning: “A lot of money was funneled through USAID to Catholic charities that facilitated Immigration. That money has been eliminated as far as I know. Her family is devoutly Catholic, and her father is an ordained deacon at St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Metairie, Louisiana.” Another added, “We need another Clarence Thomas. Someone that came from nothing and has seen both sides. Self made with a perfect blend of common sense and intelligence.”
