Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters made an alarming prediction during an appearance on MSNBC’s “The Saturday Show.” According to Waters, there will be political violence and “more killings” if former President Donald Trump wins the election later this year.
MSNBC Host Jonathan Capehart asked the representative, “How concerned are you about your safety if Donald Trump is re-elected?” Waters responded that she is concerned with her own well-being and that of her fellow members of Congress and minorities around the country.
Waters further claimed that Trump is already alleging the election will be fraudulent if he loses, where he supposedly is threatening civil war and violence. She illustrated her belief that there will be “blood in the streets” due to Trump’s desire to seek retribution against his political adversaries.
Waters said, “I’m very concerned, not only about my safety and not only about the safety of members of Congress. I’m concerned about the safety of so many people in this country, particularly people of color. Donald Trump has said that if he does not win, it is going to be fraud, and because it is going to be fraud, there will be blood in the streets.
The representative continued, He threatens about a civil war, and he threatens there’s going to be violence. I would say all of this talk is motivational with many of those who are racist, who are sitting at home listening to him, and they are taking him up on his threats even before the elections take place. It is about thousands, maybe millions of people being threatened and being at risk because of Donald Trump and his desire to seek revenge on anything and everybody.”
Without substantiating her claims with specific remarks from Trump, she further asserted that he is allegedly calling for violence if he is not reelected. Waters predicted there will be “more killings” if the former president loses his reelection bid.
She added, “I do believe having listened to Donald Trump so many times and having the attack, the insurrection that took place on the House of Representatives in Congress, on the Capitol, the Capitol grounds, we could be in for more killings like that. I think Donald Trump has to take responsibility for what he is saying about blood in the streets and violence if he is not elected to be the president of the United States of America.” Watch Waters’ interview below:
Rep. Maxine Waters has continually made claims that there is impending political violence from Trump supporters. Last month, The American Tribune reported on comments from Waters where she suggested that supporters of the GOP frontrunner are “training up in the hills.”
Waters said, “This is a man who we better be careful about. And I tell you what I’m going to do. I’m going to ask the Justice Department, and I’m going to ask the president to tell us what they’re going to do to protect this country against violence if he loses.”
“I want to know about all of those right-wing organizations that he’s connected with, who are training up in the hills somewhere and targeting, you know, what communities they’re going to attack,” she continued, without providing evidence.
