WATCH: Maxine Waters Claims Kamala Harris is “Smarter than Trump”

With President Joe Biden out of the way and Vice President Kamala Harris now looking like she will be the one on top of the Democratic ticket, Democrat personalities are rallying around her in an attempt to push her into popularity and out of the purgatory of being regarded mainly as that politician who cackles constantly. Among those doing so was Rep. Maxine Waters.

As background, President Joe Biden announced on Sunday, July 21, that he is dropping out of the 2024 presidential race and is appointing Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party’s nominee. Posting on x about his decision, Biden said, “My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”

In any case, Representative Maxine Waters appeared, on Monday, July 22, on MSNBC’s “The ReidOut” to support Vice President Kamala Harris and argue that she is “smarter than” former President Donald Trump. Rep. Waters’s comments on the matter came when the host, Joy Reid, said, “We have seen the right go after Vice President Harris. They have gone after her laugh, they have gone after her past, who she has dated in the past. They have tried it all.”

Responding to Reid, Rep. Waters said, that VP Harris will take “tough,” and impliedly unfair, criticism from the Republican right, saying, “They will try anything and it is going to be tough. They will accuse her, they will call her names and do all kinds of things. But you know, she is not going to be intimidated. She is smart, she is tough.”

Continuing, Rep. Waters claimed that Harris knows how the political situation works and that she is smarter than Trump and so can outsmart him, saying, “She knows how it all works now. She has worked at the White House, she is the vice president of the United States and she is smarter than Trump. So if they come after her, she is going to get him.”

She added that VP Harris has had an explosive career in politics, arguing that Harris has been courageous in that career, saying, “She had a good career. She moved right up the ladder to the vice presidency. All because she is strong and believed in herself. It never dawned on her that she would fail and it was that kind of courage and that defines her.”

She also said that Harris has done everything right while climbing the political ladder, saying, “She did all of the right things for the most part of how you climb up the ladder. She was trained well and did all of the things that she was taught to do. She should be understood as a woman who is on a mission. She is accomplished and she succeeded.”
