In an accidentally hilarious moment on Tuesday, February 4, Democratic California Rep. Maxine Waters had an utter meltdown when furiously expressing her disapproval of both President Donald Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk. That came when the Democrats had a rally in DC to protest Elon’s Department of the Government Efficency’s access to the Treasury Department and its payment system.
During her angry rant, Waters declared that Elon wasn’t elected by the American people to take a wrecking ball to the Deep State, which is mostly untrue given his high-profile campaigning alongside President Donald Trump. She said, “We have got to tell Elon Musk that nobody elected your ass. Nobody told you you could get all of our private information. Nobody told you you could be in charge of the payments of this country.”
Continuing, Waters got angry about government funding for a Mars mission, implying that welfare is a better use of government funding than a mission to explore and settle Mars. She said, “We have told you that you’ve made enough money off our government yourself, and now you want to take everybody else’s payroll and make sure that they don’t make the kind of money that you’ve made. Oh, you want to use our money to go to Mars.”
Waters went on to declare that “the billionaires” have caused a crisis in America, ignoring in that statement the disaster that was the Biden Administration. She said, “We’re in a crisis in this country because Trump and Elon Musk and the billionaires have decided they’re going to put us all in our place. They’re going to run this country. They’re going to make sure that they take over everything.”
Still not done, she further declared, “Are we going to let them do that? Are we going to let them run this government in the way that they can make even more money and so they won’t stop? It is so brazen every day they’re taking new actions. They’re taking executive actions. Every day they’re doing something.” Watch her here:

Waters has also been freaking out about the Trump Administration’s approach to DEI. In a post on X, for example, she said, “This is the beginning of Black History Month, and while I believe we should celebrate Black History every day, it is so important to understand everything that we have fought for, the sacrifices that have been made, the lives that have been lost, the bondage and slavery that our people have survived, it is all at stake now.”
She continued, “Trump has attacked diversity and inclusion. He has attacked legal funding for programs and projects all over this country, in urban and rural communities, funding that we have fought for everyone. This Black History Month, we cannot go back. We must go forward. Everyone must understand we are in this struggle for as long as it takes. The fight is on!”
In another post, she said, “Trump viciously ordered all diversity and inclusion employees out of their offices by 5 PM on Friday. They are on paid leave until he decides what he is going to do with them. His executive order revokes protections against discrimination for federal employees and contractors.”
She added, “For any Black people or people of color who think Trump is their friend because of hip-hop performers at his inauguration party, think again. Trump is using his power to obliterate the civil rights movement. If he thinks we are going to take it lying down, he better think again. The fight is on!”
