A new video clip of Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) taking a stand on the SAVE America Act is now going viral all across social media and for good reason. In the video, Lee makes it clear that this piece of legislation is critical not only for securing our elections from fraud, but because the American people overwhelmingly support it.
For those who might be unfamiliar with the bill, the SAVE America Act requires that every individual who registers to vote must provide documented proof of their American citizenship. This documentation can include a birth certificate or valid U.S. passport. It also requires those who are registered to provide a photo ID before they can cast their ballot.
“There are those who have responded to that today by saying, and this one is crazy–that somehow this is demoralizing to the Republican base, or is to be suggesting that maybe just maybe we ought not take that recess, and maybe just maybe we ought to vote on whether we ought to take that recess. How on earth is that demoralizing to the Republican base?” Lee says at the start of the video.
“On what planet is that demoralizing to the Republican base? And if that’s now the standard that we all just have to agree, anytime there’s a planned recess that we’re going to take it, and that anyone who suggests that we even have a vote on that is wrong, that is crazy,” the Republican senator continues. He then takes an opportunity to remind folks, especially those in Congress, who they work for.
“Look, the fact is we work for the American people, the American people overwhelmingly support and want us to pass the Save America Act. We darn well better do everything we can to get that done. So let’s do it. I hope and expect more senators will join the cause, and stay tuned,” the senator concludes. And Lee isn’t the only one who is taking a bold stand and pushing for the SAVE America Act to be passed into law.
The video cuts away to Sen. Ashley Moody (R-FL) giving a talk about the bill on the Senate floor. The clip kicks off with Moody discussing how Democrats have repeatedly denied that illegal aliens have voted in federal elections. However, Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin recently revealed that the department discovered a whopping 250,000 noncitizens on voter rolls in California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Nevada, according to a report from Fox News.
“Time and time and time and time again, that could never happen, and does not happen. Oh my goodness, it’s happening! Surprise, surprise! And they’ll still come here to the floor and object to voter ID after blaming thousands of individuals on the voter rolls as a software error,” Moody goes on to say in the video.

She then points out that a recent platform change made by the Democratic Socialists of America indicates that they want noncitizens to be able to vote, essentially canceling out the vote of an American citizen. “We also have to make sure that we are mindful of the fact that the Democratic Socialists of America have just said in their platform they want non-citizens voting,” Moody continues.
“Obvious for anyone that’s watching, not only here within the Senate but at home, which party is asking their colleagues to require voter ID and banning the purchasing of stocks while in office. What could be the reason? We have to fiercely safeguard our democracy, ensuring that only Americans are allowed to participate in American elections, as if in legislative session,” the senator explains.
“And notwithstanding Rule 22, I ask unanimous consent that the Senate proceed to the immediate consideration of H.R. 7008, which was received from the House. Further, that the bill be considered read a third time and passed, and that the motion to reconsider be considered, made, and laid upon the table,” Moody concludes her speech.
