As the Trump dance continues to thrive in popularity in the aftermath of President-elect Donald Trump’s landslide win in the 2024 presidential election, thousands of videos have been shared on social media showing patriots giving their rendition of the president’s signature choreography.  As Trump became known over the years for breaking out into the unique dance to the beat of the “Y.M.C.A.” at campaign events, he has inspired his followers to do the same.

The popular conservative X account TONY shared the clip with its over 400,000 followers, writing, “Happy Thanksgiving from this epic MAGA family!!! 🇺🇸🔥 Love it!!!! @realDonaldTrump.”  The post has been viewed over 3 millions times, receiving thousands of comments praising the family and the dance. One person responded, “My timeline is filled with your posts of the Trump dance! Happy turkey day, Tony, to you and yours!🦃✨🤩”

Elated by President-elect Donald Trump’s massive victory, one person said, “Nothing beats this Thanksgiving MAGA style.. But having a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner and watching your favorite Christmas movie on tv comes close..” One person wrote, “Ok. How do I become part of this family guys? Imagine my thanksgiving dinner, where I am not allowed to talk politics at all including my drastic weight loss, because I eat proper human diet now. And the proper human diet is actually a political subject?”

Applauding the family, another user wrote, “Absolutely! Family time is the best time, especially during the holidays. Enjoy every moment!” Pointing out the attention Trump has brought the hit song “YMCA” by the Village People, another person commented, “I never listened to ‘the villagers’ when they sang YMCA back in the day! Can’t believe that we actually dance to it thanks to our amazing President Trump in the year 2024. Anyone else think about this ?”

As Trump’s contagious dance moves have increased in popularity, they have also led to a resurgence of popularity for the 1978 disco hit by The Village People. The tune is topping the charts as it is being played at a massive scale by the president-elect’s followers. The revival of the song has led the founder of The Village People, Victor Willis, to revoke his request for Trump not to use the song.

“I decided to allow the president-elect’s continued use of ‘Y.M.C.A.’ because he seems to genuinely, genuinely like the song and so many other artists were stopping him from using their music,” Willis explained Fox News after years of opposition to the former president using the song at his events.

“So I decided to contact BMI [Broadcast Music, Inc.] and told them not to terminate his political use license because he seemed to be bringing so much joy to the American people with his use of Y.M.C.A,” Willis said. However, the singer indicated that he would likely not perform at Trump’s inauguration. “If you were to ask me today if the Village People would perform at the inauguration, I would probably say not because we’d be concerned about endorsement,” he said.
