In an extremely entertaining incident that took place on Friday, October 24, after she pleaded “not guilty” to the mortgage fraud-related charges she faces, New York Attorney General Letitia James went berserk over the charges she faces, decrying them as an example of how Trump has weaponized the government.
As background, the federal grand jury that looked into the allegations against AG James returned two charges after examining the evidence: bank fraud and false statements to a financial institution. If convicted of both of those crimes, AG James faces up to three decades in prison and up to $1 million in fines on each count.
AG James has, of course, insisted that the charges were brought purely because she went on the legal offensive against then-former President Donald Trump, ignoring that the legal evidence against her, regarding mortgage fraud and falsely claiming a second home as her primary residence, appears to be quite damning.
In any case, speaking outside the courtroom after pleading not guilty in a disastrous, for her, spectacle, the New York Attorney General insisted that this case is not about her or anyone in particular, but rather about the weaponization of the justice system against anyone who dares to fight back against President Trump.
She said, during that screeching meltdown of a press conference outside the courtroom in New York City in which she had pleaded not guilty, “But this is not about me. This is about all of us, and about a justice system which has been weaponized, a justice system which has been used as a tool of revenge.”
Continuing, she insisted, seemingly not grasping the irony of the whole situation, given what she tried doing to President Trump, that the justice system has become a tool of political revenge. She snapped, “This justice system, which has been used as a tool of revenge and a weapon against those individuals who simply did their job and who stood up for the rule of law.”
She then further claimed that, despite it all, she still has a great deal of faith in both the justice system and the rule of law, presumably meaning that she thinks the court and jury system in NYC will let her get away with it, saying, “But my faith is strong! I have a belief in the justice system and the rule of law.”

James has also said, speaking of the case against her, that it is entirely baseless, saying, “This is nothing more than a continuation of the president’s desperate weaponization of our justice system. He is forcing federal law enforcement agencies to do his bidding, all because I did my job as the New York state attorney general.”
President Trump, for his part, posted on Truth Social about the situation, saying, “Corrupt Letitia James is costing New York State Hundreds of Billions of Dollars in lost business. No company or individual wants to be there, knowing that she’s the “Attorney General.” She is a Complete and Total Disaster, who tried running against Kathy Hochul for Governor, and only got 1% of the Vote in Polls, and QUIT. She then went back to her WITCH HUNT against President Donald J. Trump, and others. Until this “SCUM” is removed from the Attorney General’s Office, no company will move to New York, and few companies will be using the New York Stock Exchange, or NASDAQ, for going Public. The new Texas Exchange will be taking ALL of this business away, and we’re talking Hundreds of Billions of Dollars!
