In an absolutely hilarious leftist meltdown moment on election night, as things started to wrap up and swing states broke for Trump, an extremely emotional and broken in spirit Jon Stewart wrapped the Daily Show’s election night coverage with a profane melt down and shriek.
His freakout came when two longtime red states thought to be swing states, Georgia and North Carolina, were called for Trump. Trump’s large victories in those states, particularly Georgia, where independents broke for Trump in a huge way compared to 2020, indicated good news for him and infuriated Stewart.
Losing his mind as the show wrapped up, Stewart first insisted that really nothing is yet known about the election, a patently absurd claim given how well the night was going for Trump by the time of Stewart’s rant. He said, “Here’s what we know — is that we really don’t know anything, and that we’re going to come out of this election.”
Continuing, he further insisted that that lack of knowledge was the case, starting to get quite vulgar with his word choice as he did so. He said, “We’re going to make all kind of pronouncements about what this country is and what this world is, and the truth is, we’re not really going to know shit.”
Stewart then called on Democrats to wake up and make the world a better place, saying, “We’re going to make it seem like this is the finality of our civilization. … We’re all going to have to wake up tomorrow morning and work like hell to move the world to the place that we prefer it to be.”
He continued, going after the pundits for their false claims about what would happen, saying, “And I just want to point out, just as a matter of perspective, that the lessons that our pundits take away from these results, that they will pronounce with certainty, will be wrong. And we have to remember that.”
Making his point on that, Stewart took the time to roll through a number of predictions about the election from pundits and pollsters that aged less than well, noting that the people who claim to know what is going on haven’t built a great track record of doing so with Trump.
So, after sounding off on the pollsters for the job they did, Stewart started shrieking about the election to his obviously quite dejected audience, losing his cool as the implications of the good news for Trump started to sink in. Doing so, he let out a shout, saying, “My point is this: Fuck!”
He then tried to recover his positivity regarding the election and state of things in America right now, saying, “But this isn’t the end! I promise you, this is not the end. And we have to regroup and we have to continue to fight and continue to work day in and day out to create the better society for our children, for this world, for this country that we know is possible. It’s possible.”
