Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich appeared on “Fox News Sunday” to discuss President Joe Biden’s financial relationship with his troubled, formerly crack-addicted son Hunter, specifically whether President Biden has encouraged Hunter to sell his influence abroad. Gingrich sparred with Juan Williams while making those point as Williams, a liberal, was not receptive to his points about Hunter.
Williams, for his part, claimed that the GOP is using the Hunter Biden scandal, particularly the material on his laptop, as a means of distracting the public from the indictment and investigation of former President Donald Trump. Making that point, Williams said, “This is what Hunter Biden has come down to now. He is a distraction, a shield against all the trouble that Trump is experiencing,”
Gingrich wasn’t having it. Shooting back, he argued that then-VP Biden was taking Hunter on trips to visit foreign governments and peddle his influence, making investigations into him particularly relevant. Watch Gingrich and Williams spar here:
As you can hear in the video, Gingrich, laying out the facts and hammering Hunter Biden for his misdeeds while pushing back on Williams’ argument that Hunter Biden and his scandals are a sideshow, said:
“Here are facts. The widow of the Moscow mayor sent millions of dollars to Hunter Biden, he got money from Kazakhstan, he got money from Ukraine, and served in a board about which he knew nothing. He got a lot of money from China and there’s a fact, Juan, that there were three million dollars that has been disclosed that went to the Biden family from a Chinese billionaire. That is a fact. Now, you can decide that none of this stuff matters, but the fact is you have the [former] Vice President of the United States taking his son on Air Force Two into China where his son is making business deals.”
Williams then again tried to rebut Gingrich, saying, “And you just described his son. Your language: he’s a sex addict, he’s an alcoholic, he’s a drug addict — ”
