Speaking on Fox News Channel in a powerful interview, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt explained how the Trump Administration is making a massive policy shift meant to crack down on the “Bidenflation” that destroyed the finances of American families in recent years, saying the new administration will do everything necessary to reign in out of control price inflation.
That big announcement and explainer came when Leavitt spoke on FNC’s “Fox & Friends” on Monday, May 12, with host Dean Phillips, explaining to him the basis for President Donald Trump’s recent executive order to lower the cost of pharmaceuticals and explaining that Bidenflation is the reason why such strong action is needed.
As background, President Trump announced in a Truth Social post on Sunday, May 11, that the administration would be forcing pharmaceutical companies to sell drugs in America for the price they sell them abroad. He said, “For many years the World has wondered why Prescription Drugs and Pharmaceuticals in the United States States of America were SO MUCH HIGHER IN PRICE THAN THEY WERE IN ANY OTHER NATION, SOMETIMES BEING FIVE TO TEN TIMES MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE SAME DRUG, MANUFACTURED IN THE EXACT SAME LABORATORY OR PLANT, BY THE SAME COMPANY??? It was always difficult to explain and very embarrassing because, in fact, there was no correct or rightful answer. The Pharmaceutical/Drug Companies would say, for years, that it was Research and Development Costs, and that all of these costs were, and would be, for no reason whatsoever, borne by the “suckers” of America, ALONE.”
He added, after explaining that campaign contributions wouldn’t get him to back down, “Prescription Drug and Pharmaceutical prices will be REDUCED, almost immediately, by 30% to 80%. They will rise throughout the World in order to equalize and, for the first time in many years, bring FAIRNESS TO AMERICA! I will be instituting a MOST FAVORED NATION’S POLICY whereby the United States will pay the same price as the Nation that pays the lowest price anywhere in the World. Our Country will finally be treated fairly, and our citizens Healthcare Costs will be reduced by numbers never even thought of before. Additionally, on top of everything else, the United States will save TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS. Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
In any case, Phillips, kicking things off by quoting the president’s post and asking how the order will work, said, “So this pharmaceutical deal, I’m just going off the truth social posts. It says it’s a long one, but he says, ‘I’m pleased to announce that today, the White House, at nine o’clock, will be signing one of the most consequential executive orders ever.’ They will be reducing pharmaceuticals by about 80%. Essentially, we are going to pay less than the country that’s paying the least for pharmaceuticals from here on. How does that work?”
Responding, Leavitt told him that the new executive order is a huge deal for Americans who have been squeezed by Big Pharma companies, saying, “First of all, it cannot be overstated, how big of a deal this executive order that President Trump will be signing in a couple of hours is for American families, and especially our seniors who have been ripped off by very large and rich pharmaceutical companies.”
Continuing, she explained that the pharma companies targeted by the order treat Americans very unfairly, saying, “The United States of America is less than 5% of the world’s population, yet we purchase 75% of Big Pharma profits. We pay an astronomical amount, in comparison to other countries around the world.”

She then noted that the executive order is big news, as it will allow Americans to unlock the benefits granted to other nations, saying, “So the President is signing an executive order today that is going to implement Most Favored Nations drug pricing and it’s going to reduce the cost of drugs in this country by more than half. At least America is going to pay a better rate and a fairer rate to the rest of the world. That’s what the American people deserve. This is huge news.”
Concluding, she said that Trump is going to crack down on and end Bidenflation forever, saying, “And also, I will add, we know that health care costs and drug prices were the number one driver of Biden inflation. So not only are we bringing those down, but we are ending Biden inflation once and for all.”
