Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) defended controversial Democrat Rep. Stacey Plaskett against a censure resolution for texting Jeffrey Epstein during a 2019 congressional hearing, downplaying it as “taking a phone call from her constituent, Jeffrey Epstein, in the middle of a hearing.” As could be expected, he got totally skewered by some epic comments.

Continuing, he minimized the event, claiming “And of course, I don’t think there’s any rule here against taking phone calls in a hearing,” framing the GOP effort as a bid for headlines. When the clip went viral on social media, users were enraged.

Starting his absurd statement, Raskin said, “Well, they want to give them another headline, which is that they’ve arraigned a Democratic member for taking a phone call from her constituent, Jeffrey Epstein, in the middle of the hearing. And of course, I don’t think there’s any rule here against taking phone calls in a hearing.”

Reacting to the inflammatory clip, the user who posted the video to social media said, “This entire circus has backfired spectacularly for the Democrats. How absurd.” Digging deeper, one user reacted, “Makes ya wonder if they really believe what b.s. they spew or if the are just throwing crap at a wall and praying that something, anything sticks.” Responding to the last post, a conservative noted, “I have a feeling that they are going to regret this decision horribly.”

“If you wanna wait for the government to tell you the Truth you will be waiting for a very long time…” a cynical user said. “Definitely a circus, Walter. The evil supporting the evil. We see exactly where their priorities lie. There is a US Code for false information and hoaxes,” another post read.

Enraged, a woman exclaimed, “Nothing wrong with a convicted ped*phile being your PHONE-A-FRIEND in the middle of a hearing w/ a subpoenaed witness. How many of you have your Representative’s personal cellphone on speed dial? Would they pick up during Congressional testimony? What a bunch of BS.”

Posing an interesting hypothetical, a comment noted, “Imagine the President getting a text from Epstein during a hearing. Imagine that happening, and the left and the press being totally ok with it. Shameful.” Agreeing, another added,” Just imagine what a HUGE DEAL this would have been if it was any of @HouseGOP would have been texting a pedophile during a hearing?!?! 🤯”

Rounding out the enraged responses, a user asserted, “So it’s totally ‘normal’ for a billionaire p*dophile human trafficking constituent to directly call their congressional representative’s cell phone in the middle of a hearing and expect them to answer, instead of focusing on the hearing? Wow, is this the best excuse Raskin has?”

As we reported at the American Tribune, in her own exchange with Epstein, the Virgin Island Democrat Stacey Plaskett shared details of the hearing with the shadowy billionaire. She appeared to be taking orders from the financier and followed his prompting through a hearing.

    Watch the clip here:

“Cohen brought up RONA – keeper of the secrets,” Epstein said to start the interaction. Responding, Plaskett answered, “RONA?? Quick I’m up next is that an acronym.” Interjecting, Epstein added, “Thats his assistant. Hes opened the door to questions re who are the other henchmen at trump org.” After Plaskett indicated she understood, Epstein said, “Good work.”
