Footage from a recent White House Press conference shows press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre refusing to answer a question about President Joe Biden’s stance on domestic terrorism. The question came after the horrific attack in New Orleans, where at least 14 people were killed when Shamsud-Din Jabbar drove a truck through a crowd while displaying an ISIS flag.
Throughout his administration, President Biden maintained that “white supremacy” was the nation’s greatest threat. In light of the recent attack, KJP was asked, “Does the president still consider White Supremacy the greatest terrorist threat in the United States?” However, she ignored the question, quickly exiting the press room.
Biden continuously suggested that “white supremacy” was the “most lethal” threat to the United States, even over terrorist groups such as Al Qaeda and ISIS. “According to the intelligence community, terrorism from White supremacy is the most lethal threat to the homeland today. Not ISIS, not al Qaeda — White supremacists,” Biden said in June 2021.
During the Howard University commencement speech in 2023, Biden delivered similar comments. “White supremacy … is the single most dangerous terrorist threat in our homeland,” the president said at the time. “And I’m not just saying this because I’m at a Black HBCU. I say this wherever I go.”
During previous comments in the State of the Union address in 2021, Biden similarly said, “We won’t ignore what our intelligence agencies have determined to be the most lethal terrorist threat to the homeland today: White supremacy is terrorism.” Moreover, other prominent members of the Biden administration offered a similar sentiment.
“In the FBI’s view, the top domestic violent extremist threat comes from ‘racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists, specifically those who advocated for the superiority of the White race,’” Attorney General Merrick Garland stated in May 2021 when speaking to the Senate Appropriations Committee about the greatest threats to the United States.
The video of KJP seemingly ignoring the question has sparked reactions across social media. “So it appears a native Texan was being radicalized by Islamic extremism, converted, and decided to murder innocent Americans. All while Joe Biden and his department of justice and FBI told us white supremacy was the biggest threat our nation faced,” Outkick founder Clay Travis said.
The conservative sports outlet founder continued, “This matters, sadly, because many FBI and DOJ bureaucrats will focus on whatever their bosses deem the biggest threats. Even if they are completely made up. So glad the FBI kept arresting grandparents who trespassed in the Capitol for four years.”
“KJP walks out as she’s asked if Joe Biden still considers white supremacy to be the greatest terror threat in the United States,” Travis said in other comments. Managing Director at News Busters Curtis Houck said, “KJP ducked this question from Fox’s @LucasFoxNews Tomlinson as she left the Briefing Room: “Does the President still consider white supremacy the greatest terrorist threat to the United States?”
