Comedian Kathy Griffin recently posted an alarming rant on social media, where she opined that the next few years under President-elect Donald Trump would see a “racist” and “misogynistic” America devolve into fascism. During the lengthy tirade, she seemed to partially blame Taylor Swift for Vice President Kamala Harris’ loss, suggesting that the election may have turned out differently if the pop star would have assisted the campaign in the critical swing state of Pennsylvania.
Griffin said during her monologue shared to TikTok, “I know this will get you in trouble, but I really, really wish Taylor Swift had done an event with Vice President Harris in Pennsylvania two months ago. okay, I just have to say that, because she’s so powerful, and it’s not fair that the weight of the world should be on a pop star shoulders.”
Conservatives on social media reacted to Griffin, maintaining that the opinions of leftist Hollywood celebrities hold no value as they are divorced from the interests of average Americans. “I think we’ve established that celebrity endorsements mean absolutely nothing to Americans. Cool, you have a unique talent. No, your talent doesn’t help put food on my table,” one person said.
“Dear Celebrities, it didn’t matter who campaigned for KH. Trump won because you are ALL out of touch with the American people. His victory is a repudiation of everything you obsess over. We don’t need stars, we need a better economy and safe borders,” another person said.
Beginning her commentary, Griffin said in the video, “I don’t think that our beloved country, America knows what it’s in for with a fascistic society and dictator. I’m not being hyperbolic. I’m not being dramatic. I had said this on tapes before, but I am shocked and crushed, and how many people I personally know did not vote or felt like there was no difference between the candidates, or just were too self involved to learn anything about it, and that that makes me sad.”
Ignoring that the Trump-Vance campaign, has denied that they would sign a national ban, Griffin added, “And you know, just because I live in California and have a lot of protections other states don’t, doesn’t mean there won’t be a federal ban on abortion,” Griffin also suggested that American would become some kind of “Trumpian Christo fascist mega church” where she complained that teenagers would not be able to access abortions on demand.
Griffin concluded, by slamming the United States for Trump’s overwhelming victory. “I just did not realize how racist and misogynistic America still is. So we’re in this together, open minded people that are loving we’re not in together with the other team that wants to like kill trans people and have more guns in grade schools. Like, no, but we, like minded folks, just want a peaceful, healthy, progressive country, and we will keep doing what we have to do to keep it alive, even though it looks a little dark today,” she said.
