In a bombshell appearance in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Kash Patel revealed shocking details about Nancy Pelosi’s role in the infamous January 6th riots. Patel, speaking to Republican Senator Ted Cruz (TX), said that, contrary to the mainstream media narrative, Trump attempted to call in the National Guard to suppress political unrest but was blocked by democrat officials.
For context, the clip was taken from a January 30, 2025, Senate Judiciary Committee hearing during Kash Patel’s confirmation process to become FBI Director. During the contentious hearing, Patel was grilled about his criticisms of the FBI and his perspective on the January 6 protests.
Responding to Sen. Cruz, Patel spoke about his action on January 6th; he answered, “On that day, specifically responding to preparing to mobilize and deploy the National Guard once we got the lawful request from the local governing authority, which was the mayor of DC and the Speaker of the House.”
Adding to his remarks, Patel explained that preparations were made days in advance. He said, “Senator, we were in the Oval Office on an unrelated national security matter with the president of the United States, the Secretary of Defense, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and myself, and the President authorized up to 20,000 plus National Guardsmen and women to secure any security measures necessary related to the Capitol. So, we were moving to the fullest extent of the law before the requisite request came from a local governing authority.”
Forging ahead with the hearing, Ted Cruz asked Kash Patel about the communications between the DOD and the Capital Police. He asked, “And while you were Chief of Staff at DOD, how many times did DOD approach Capitol Police and ask if they needed National Guard assistance?”
Answering confidently, Patel said, “I believe those letters are well documented. There were numerous instances, and numerous of those instances, where those requests were shut down.” He also confirmed that the sergeant at arms, who reports to Nancy Pelosi, refused any assistance.
After another question from Senator Ted Cruz, Patel turned his attention to the Democrat mayor of DC. He said, “[Mayor Bowser] put in writing on the days leading up to January 6, a declination for National Guard additional support.”

In the comments under the clip, conservatives expressed their support for Patel’s nomination and anger at the injustice of the J6 narrative. One such comment read, “May everyone responsible for the failure of security at the Capitol on January 6, 2020, be held criminally accountable. America needs the truth.” Agreeing with the last comment, one reply read, “Absolute truth bombs from Kash and Senator Cruz.”
Rounding out the comments, several responses hoped that Patel would bring corrupt Democrats to justice. One of the many replies read, “The Democrats are deathly afraid of Kash because he will expose all of their corruption and hold them accountable.” Another added, “The truth always comes out eventually. 
Confirm Kash.” One comment read, “He’s taking care of business. Going to be a fantastic director of FBI.”
