Speaking during an interview with former Navy SEAL Shawn Ryan, who now owns and operates a podcast called “The Shawn Ryan Show,” now-FBI Director Kash Patel explained to Ryan how the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) responded to his attempts to probe its corruption with vicious, illegal lawfare meant to silence him.
For reference, that podcast interview now-FBI Director Patel and Mr. Ryan was released on September 2, 2024, before Mr. Patel was nominated, much less confirmed, as FBI Director. However, it was speculated he might get the role. So, speaking during the interview, Mr. Patel was asked about and focused upon corruption, both of the sort shown by politicians like Nancy Pelosi and as represented by the FBI.
Commenting on the matter in the interview, Mr. Patel noted that he tried to get the FBI’s help in reviewing what happened and holding the wrongdoers accountable, but instead it doubled down on it. “We went to them and said, ‘look, you guys didn’t do this. Help us expose it.’ And they both doubled down. You know what they did? They launched an investigation against me.”
Continuing, he noted that the Swamp got involved in trying to stop him, with corrupt members of Congress joining in. He said, “The senior congressional investigator for Russiagate on the House Intelligence Committee and six other staffers—they used grand jury subpoenas to get my personal information, my banking information, my emails, my cell phone information, everything else.”
He then explained that the DOJ and FBI got involved alongside Congress, using illegal FISA procedures to go after him. He said, “Google informed me that the DOJ surveilled me five years after the investigation started. We had to turn over documents, and that became a federal lawsuit that’s still ongoing in the DOJ and FBI. Rod Rosenstein specifically got exposed for signing a FISA that was totally bogus, and we’ve caught Chris Wray lying time and time again as the director of the FBI.”
Mr. Patel then noted why that was illegal, explaining the law in America as related to FISA: “Under the rule of law in America, if you want the Federal Bureau of Investigation to launch an investigation overseas, you have to get permission. Gina Haspel, as London station chief, allowed Russiagate to occur on British soil.”
He then described what must be done to rein in the Deep State, telling Mr. Ryan, “Once you show enough Americans that they were lied to—that they based their vote on information the government purposely withheld—then you have the movement you need behind leadership like Donald Trump to take a wrecking ball to the Deep State. You have to enact measures not of retribution, but of legal consequence. Permanently suspend the security clearances of those who signed the 51 Intel letter. Every one of them lied.”

Concluding, Mr. Patel gave his take on what the Deep State is and how it works, telling Mr. Ryan, “The media’s tidal narrative carries the day. They want you to believe, ‘Trump is a Russian asset. Hunter Biden’s laptop is Russian disinformation.’ They don’t care about the actual truth. Government service is a service. If you break the rules and regulations, you’re out. Then you bring in a new team to fight the media and dismantle the corruption embedded in these agencies. There’s no single chain of command for the deep state. It’s people who know they’re going to benefit from each other if they sign up for the program.”
