In a very unintentionally entertaining ramble on TikTok, Ella Emhoff, the stepdaughter of failed Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, claims to both feel “disgust” at the present state of the world and live in a state of intense “climate anxiety.” As could be expected, the clip quickly led to her getting roasted by conservatives online.
Ella Emhoff posted the clip on Thursday, August 14, and used it as a “life update” opportunity, describing how her life is going after she lost out on being the First Daughter thanks to her stepmother’s poor performance in the 2024 election against President Donald Trump.
Beginning the rambling clip, Ella rambled about having moved on from the past coupleof years and how quickly it happened, saying, “I just wanted to give you a little update. I feel like I never really got to, like, take a moment and, like, chat after everything went down back home in LA and I was sitting in my sister in law’s car, and it just felt like old times. Like it just felt like high school again, and it was making me think about how I don’t know quickly I, not we, I’m saying, like me specifically has, like, moved on from the craziness that was the past four years.”
Continuing the ramble, she got to describing the election, insisting that she became “extremely focused on the world” as a way of distracting herself from the election loss, saying, “And I think since losing the election, I’ve been extremely focused on the world and kind of wrapping my head around that and seeing what is to be done with that, and that has been a really good distraction for kind of taking the time to process what has gone on in my life, surrounding that which I feel like at a certain point, yeah, I feel like it is less important than everything going on.”
Entertainingly, she then told those who aren’t obsessed with more details on her life to log off, saying, “Yeah, I get that, and I think I’ve just been kind of existing in that, but I know some of you care, and that is really sweet and makes me happy, but I know a lot of you don’t care. So if you don’t care, like, you can leave.”
Next, she got to the really bizarre part, saying she is living in “disgust” at a bunch of random changes in things that she expressed as platitudes about “rights” and “healthcare,” saying: “But if you do, like, I just wanted to give you, like, a general update on how I am, I am overall good, like I think everyone I feel disgust at what’s going on in the world around genocides, the loss of rights, the loss of health care, the just general fear that everyone has surrounding affordability their lives, their livelihood, like everything. It’s just it feels so big.”
That’s when she got to her ramble about her “climate anxiety,” saying, as she nervously laughed, apparently so nervous about the climate that she couldn’t hold it in, “I think everything with the environment is really fucking getting to me, and it is one I experience a lot of climate anxiety, like a lot of us do, it’s not funny. I, it’s just like, it’s one of those things. It’s not funny, but you just like nervous laugh about it because it’s scary. It is.”

Elaborating on that, she called on people to do “small things” like “fighting and protesting,” saying, “It’s all of these things are happening and like, what are what? Besides the small things we can do and pushing for change and fighting and protesting, and it’s really hard not to sit in those moments where it just feels so heavy. So I’ve definitely been feeling that.”
Ella’s ramble then devolved into a further rant about living life without the Secret Service and on “moving on,” about which she rambled in depth. Watch her here:
