Recently, a reporter from the conservative media outlet Newsmax attended a Kamala Harris rally in Nevada, where he asked straightforward questions about the vice president’s platform. However, many of those who were interviewed either could not articulate anything about her policies or were completely wrong about her agenda.
Newsmax correspondent Mike Carter began the segment, stating, We’re now three weeks into Kamala Harris’s presidential race. And while the vice president may not be doing any interviews, she is holding campaign rallies like her latest one in Las Vegas. So we figured, if the vice president won’t talk to us, maybe her supporters will.”
In one interview with a young female supporter who was wearing a t-shirt with the Harris slogan “Brat,” the reporter asked, “Can you define brat?” The girl said, “No it’s just like ‘slay,'” she responded. Carter asked a middle-aged man outside of the rally, “What is the most important policy issue that she holds, that is important to you?” The man paused for several seconds before answering, “I would say freedom.” He later clarified that his answer was “women’s reproductive freedom.”
Another woman emphatically stated, “You already know what her message is. You already know what her platform is, and so…” The reporter interjected, “What is her message?” The woman replied, “Her message is unifying the nation.” Interviewing another supporter, Carter quipped about a commonly criticized word salad phrase of Harris’. “What can be unburdened by what has been,” he asked one man who responded, “Is that a trick question?”
The Newsmax correspondent asked one woman about a key policy stance on fossil fuels, “Where does Kamala Harris stand on fracking?” The Harris supporter said, “She actually used to support it. Has evolved her…” The reporter interrupted, “I thought she used to be against it.” The woman clarified, “I mean, I’m sorry. Did I say that she used to be against it in our previous campaign? Right?”
Carter further called out Harris’ seeming unwillingness to talk to the press, “Does she owe it to you, the voter, to talk to the media, though?” She said, “I believe, let’s have debate. Let’s have a conversation.” Carter jumped in, “Well, Trump says he wants three debates. She hasn’t agreed to more than one.”
Pointing at pro-Palestine protestors outside the convention, the reporter said, “It seems like she’s trying to appease people like this. She didn’t choose Shapiro from Pennsylvania as her VP. She’s kind of lawful on her stance on Israel, but nothing will appease these people.” The man he was talking to said, “I don’t think Israel is a bigger issue. I think Ukraine is a bigger issue.”

Carter also addressed criticism toward Harris’ VP pick Tim Walz. “Walz once said that he wants to take weapons of war off the streets, the same weapons of war that he carried in war, but he didn’t go to war. So why would he say that?” The Harris supporter responded, “I don’t know. That doesn’t bother me. I don’t know. I think.I don’t know.
The correspondent asked a Harris campaign member about when she would finally start talking to the media. “Let me ask you, but you’re on the campaign. It’s been three weeks now since she’s been the nominee. When is she gonna talk to the media? You work for her.” The individual claimed that was not a question he could answer.
