Vice President Kamala Harris recently released a video of a conversation with her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. Many have criticized the video for appearing to be heavily scripted and unauthentic. During the clip, Harris calls Walz and expresses her desire for him to join her campaign and defeat former President Donald Trump in a few months.
However, social media’s reception of the video was less than welcoming. Harris uploaded the video to her X account, writing, “When I called @Tim_Walz this morning to ask him to join our campaign, I shared my deep level of respect for him and the work we’ve done together. We’re going to unify this country and we’re going to win. Let’s go get this done.”
The video opens with Harris telling Walz, “Listen, I want you to do this with me. Let’s let’s do this together. Would you be my running mate, and let’s get this thing on the road?” Walz replied, “I would be honored, Madam Vice President, the joy that you’re bringing back to the country, the enthusiasm that’s out there, it would be a privilege to take this with you across the country.”
Kamala further praised Walz, saying, “Well, let me tell you, I have just utmost respect for you. I have really enjoyed our work together. You understand our country. You have dedicated yourself to our country in so many different in beautiful ways, and we’re going to do this, we’re going to win. And we’re going to unify our country, and remind everyone that we are fighting for the future for everyone. let’s get out there and get this done.”
Users on social media blasted the clip where the interaction appeared superficial to create a campaign advertisement. Conservative influencer on X, Collin Rugg, wrote in the comments section under Harris’ post, “Y’all call JD Vance weird and then do this.” Another person asked, “Unifying the country? By doing what, exactly?”
“Everything Kamala Harris does is fake. Including this cringe phone call,” conservative commentator Paul A. Pzypula wrote, calling the nature of the interaction between the vice president and Walz. “So fake. So phony,” Steve Guest added. Another user weighed in, “What policies have you implemented for America that have been successful? You failed the border kamala..costing American lives. All you have to run on is hatred of Trump and abortions. You picked a communist as your running nate. How fitting.”
The American Tribune reported on comments from former President Donald Trump, who called out Kamala Harris for seemingly refusing to hold a real press conference and take unscripted questions from reporters. Trump has maintained that Harris is not capable of answering hard-hitting questions on the spot. If true, this raises questions about whether she is qualified for the presidency.
Trump said, “Excuse me, what are we doing right now? She’s not doing any news conference. You know why she’s not doing because she can’t do a news conference. She doesn’t know how to do a news conference. She’s not smart enough to do a news conference, and I’m sorry. We need smart people to lead this country, because our country has never been in this danger before, both economically and from an outside from an outside perspective, Russia doesn’t respect us anymore. China, North Korea, Kim Jong Un liked me a lot. He doesn’t like this group. We are in great danger, with great danger of Being in world war three. That could happen.”
