WATCH: Kamala Harris Heckled by Audience During Jimmy Kimmel’s Show

Vice President Kamala Harris was recently heckled during her appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”  While she was on set, pro-Palestine activists claimed he was a “murderer” and a “war criminal.”  Reportedly, the interruption was caused by activists in the grassroots feminist organization CodePink.

One activist can be heard shouting from the audience, “Stop the genocide! … 15,000 children dead because of you.”  Another woman shouted, “Kamala Harris!  Please stop sending money to Israel.”  In another instance, one of the protestors shouted, “Real babies have been beheaded. Not fake babies like Joe Biden said he saw…Stop funding genocide.”

At one point, Jimmy Kimmel intervened, informing the hecklers, “You’re interrupting my flow,” and “If anyone else has anything to say, this is the time.”  Another spectator said, while displaying a Palestinian flag, “You are complicit in the genocide of Palestinian children .. You are a war criminal.”

Eventually, the rest of the audience began to lose their patience with the protestors before security escorted them off the set.  According to one official, they were being placed under arrest for “interfering with a live television broadcast.”

CodePink released an official statement on its website about the incident, where they claimed “peace activists” were “assaulted” and “forcibly removed” for their disturbance during the taping of Jimmy Kimmel’s interview with Kamala Harris.

“CODEPINK Inland Empire and CODEPINK Southeast LA joined a coalition of peace activists at last night’s live taping of Vice President Kamala Harris’ appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The activists, representing groups such as Chino Valley for Palestinian Liberation, Palestinian Christians for Justice, Pasadena for Palestine, Claremont Graduate Students for a Free Palestine, and autonomous residents of Los Angeles, were there to remind people that there is no business as usual during a genocide,” the statement began.

The feminist group further criticized the actions taken by the security guards, writing, “At one point, a security guard put one of the activists in chokehold until others were able to get him to release him. As clearly shown in the video, this act of violence was unprovoked and completely unnecessary. The coalition of organizations demand The Jimmy Kimmel Show address and apologize for the unnecessary use of brutal force that left the man bruised and swollen.”  Watch the hecklers below:

The statement concluded by expressing their demands for “immediate action” amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza.  “The demands for immediate action –  an arms embargo and cessation of aid to Israel, alongside a call for a permanent ceasefire to end the ongoing violence and humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the West Bank – are echoed across the country as the movement for a Free Palestine grows and Israel’s apparent intent to cleanse Palestinians ethnically becomes more evident,” per the statement.

According to the group’s website, “CODEPINK is a feminist grassroots organization working to end U.S. warfare and imperialism, support peace and human rights initiatives, and redirect resources into healthcare, education, green jobs and other life-affirming* programs … Life-affirming programs are investments in social programs that uplift human dignity instead of tear it down. We believe universal health care must include the right to an abortion, access to education must not be determined by income bracket, and housing is a human right.”
