During an appearance on “The View,” Vice President Kamala Harris told co-host Joy Behar that, when it comes to 2024, she is “scared” about the potential for a Trump victory and thinks that all of America should be fearful about such an eventuality.
That appearance came on Wednesday, January 17, with VP Harris speaking about the election and how she and President Joe Biden need to fight to win in 2024 because if they do not, Trump will be president, something she, the co-hosts, and the audience apparently found terrifying. VP Harris also promised to “fight back” against such an eventuality.
The discussion began with Joy Behar, one of the far-left co-hosts on “The View,” bringing up the recent comments from the Obamas about a potential Trump win. Michelle Obama, for reference, said, “I am terrified about what could possibly happen.” Asking Harris about that, Behar said, “Are you scared? What could happen if Trump ever became, God forbid, president again?”
Responding, VP Harris took the same line as Michelle Obama and said, “I am scared as heck.” Continuing, she said, “There is an old saying that there are only two ways to run for office, either without an opponent or scared. So on all of those points, yes, we should all be scared, but as we know, and certainly, this is a table of very powerful women, we don’t run away from something when we’re scared. We fight back against it.”
Predictably, the co-hosts and audience clapped for Kamala after that vow to “fight back” against Trump despite how scary he is. But Kamala wasn’t done there. Continuing, she kept up the fighting rhetoric, saying, “Right? So many of us know, when we are scared for our future of our children, do we stay in bed with the covers over our head? No.”
Then Kamala turned from Trump to the Biden Administration and commented on having to “earn” re-election. She said, “We have to earn the re-elect, and we have to communicate what we have achieved. And that is going to be one of our big challenges. We’ve done a lot of good work, we have to let people know who brung it to them.”
But after an okay start, things took a turn for the worse for VP Harris when “The View” co-host Alyssa Farrah Griffin asked her about why Trump has higher ratings than Biden despite all of the charges he is facing. Responding, Kamala did her usual word salad thing and said, “We are all starting to narrow in on what this election will mean and, frankly, in the midst of so many big issues challenging our world that, you know, are not binary.”
Continuing, Kamala told the co-hosts, “It’s not just one side or the other, on this one, there is a split screen you can throw up and see. And it’s going to be the choice between, what is about respecting our democracy, what is about competence, versus chaos.”
