Former Fox News Channel personality Judge Jeanine Pirro was sworn in as Interim United States Attorney for Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, May 28, and, during the swear-in ceremony vowed that she would use her position to relentlessly go after criminals and ensure that they face justice rather than mercy from the Department of Justice.

The event at which Judge Jeanine spoke about her plan to deal with rampant criminality and took the oath of office to serve in the interim position took place in the White House’s Oval Office, where President Donald Trump stood alongside her as U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi administered the oath.

Speaking after taking the oath, Pirro told the public that she would wield the position against criminals to ensure that the message is sent to everyone that justice and the law are honored and respected rather than derided and ignored. She said, “We need to send a message that justice will be honored in the District of Columbia.”

Continuing, the new interim US Attorney for DC vowed that her office would no longer be allowing things to slide, but rather would be going after criminality with a vengeance. She said, “My voice should be heard loud and clear: No more. No more tolerance of hatred. No more mercy for criminals.”

Adding to that, Pirro vowed that she would turn DC back into a beautiful, renowned city by cracking down on the violent lawlessness that has characterized it for too long. Beginning that part of her statement, she commented on her office’s response to violent crime, saying, “Violence will be addressed directly with the appropriate punishment.”

Building on that, Pirro noted that cracking down on violent crime would turn DC back into the wonderful, acclaimed city that shows off America that it is supposed to be, saying, “And this city will again become a shining city on a hill in an America that President Trump has promised to make great again and will make safe again.”

As a reminder, President Trump announced that he would be appointing Judge Jeanine to the position on May 8, saying, “I am pleased to announce that Judge Jeanine Pirro will be appointed interim United States Attorney for the District of Columbia. Jeanine was Assistant District Attorney for Westchester County, New York, and then went on to serve as County Judge, and District Attorney, where she was the first woman ever to be elected to those positions. During her time in office, Jeanine was a powerful crusader for victims of crime. Her establishment of the Domestic Violence Bureau in her Prosecutor’s Office was the first in the Nation. She excelled in all ways.”

Continuing, the president said, “In addition to her Legal career, Jeanine previously hosted her own Fox News Show, Justice with Judge Jeanine, for ten years, and is currently Co-Host of The Five, one of the Highest Rated Shows on Television. Jeanine is incredibly well qualified for this position, and is considered one of the Top District Attorneys in the History of the State of New York. She is in a class by herself. Congratulations Jeanine!”
