Jessica Tarlov and Judge Jeanine Pirro recently got into an argument on Fox News Channel’s “The Five” after Tarlov made a dubious claim about the state of President Joe Biden’s border.  Tarlov, known for her left-of-center takes on the show, claimed that the United States has seen a substantial decline in illegal immigration after millions poured over the border throughout the Biden-Harris administration.  However, Pirro quickly offered a strong rebuttal to this claim.

Tarlov asserted, “Well, we actually have it a huge change in the amount of people that are getting into this country and the number of deportations. So we now have the lowest number of border crossings that we’ve had in four years.”  Pirro interrupted her co-host, “Yeah, but they’re flying them in across border if you get a free flight.”  Tarlov firmly responded, “It’s not true.”

The liberal co-host added, “And we’ve removed 700,000 … that they’re just flying them in … without background checks.”  Pirro continued, “Wait a minute. You think they’re flying them in, and they do background checks on them.” Tarlov replied, “Yes, I do think that you got a background check.”  Judge Jeanine fired back, “From where, from Chile, from Venezuela, from Haiti?”

Tarlov then claimed that people from “Mexico and Central America” were receiving background checks while suggested that there was substantial cooperation with these nations.  As the two continued to argue, Tarlov said, “You’re telling me that in the last year where we’ve gotten out over 700,000 people, which is the most that we have deported since the year 2010.”

Continuing, Tarlov then suggested that there were “the lowest number of border crossings that we have record seizures of drugs that are supposed to be coming across the border, that this is a wide-open border.” Pirro questioned, “Why did Biden lose if he’s so great.”  Tarlov opined, “It was too little to too late in addressing this problem.”

Users on social media reacted to Tarlov’s argument, pushing back on her claims.  “I mean seriously Jessica? This Admin is still using the app as we speak to import people. It’s been confirmed many of these countries don’t provide the criminal history to be properly vetted. Finally the nerve to use the number that were supposedly deported being the most ever. Millions upon millions of gotaways on top of the improperly or unvetted are here. SMH,” one person said.

Another person questioned where Tarlov was sourcing her claims.  “@JessicaTarlov just kept saying, “that’s not true” “that’s not true.” Okay, so if it’s not true then show us where the truth is. Where is your information coming from? Who are you getting it from? Can you show proof of what you THINK is true?” another person asked.

Providing a summary of what was being argued, one person commented, “A summary of Perplexity:
Haiti, Guatemala, and Venezuela are not providing background checks to the United States.
The U.S. government is responsible for conducting background checks on immigrants and visa applicants, regardless of their country of origin. The mentioned countries are not providing background checks to the United States for immigration purposes.”
