MSNBC host Joy Reid recently went on a tirade against white women voters after the demographic turned out for President-elect Trump in larger-than-anticipated numbers in the 2024 presidential election. According to Reid, Black women are no longer interested in “saving America” after many white women helped elect Trump.
In a video uploaded to TikTok, Reid said, “I just want to give some free advice to the White progressive women who may be thinking about marching against the Trump victory, maybe putting back on the P-word hats and doing that thing, I would just say probably don’t send any of those invites to any Black women. I’m just going to tell you right now they’re not coming.”
Suggesting that Black women, who overwhelmingly voted for Vice President Kamala Harris, have “resigned” from their goals to “save” the Democratic Party and the broader country, she said, “Like, I’m pretty sure Black women have resigned from the ‘Save America’ coalition,’ ‘Save Democracy’ coalition and definitely the ‘Save the Democratic Party’ coalition,” Reid added.
The MSNBC host had also called out white women in North Carolina, blaming them for Harris’ loss in the state. She said, “It’s a state where women lost their reproductive rights, where there was a very heavy push to get women to focus on not … putting back into the White House the person who was responsible for taking those rights away. And restoring them. But that message obviously was not enough to get enough White women to vote for Vice President Harris, a fellow woman.”
Acknowledging that this is the second time that Donald Trump has defeated a female presidential candidate, Reid added in her TikTok rant, “This will be the second opportunity that White women in this country have had to change the way that they interact with the patriarchy. If people aren’t receptive to it, and if people vote more party line, or more on race than on gender, and on protecting their gender, there’s really not much more that you can do.”
She concluded, “I would just keep those invites maybe among your own friends because … I think Black women are now [focused] on the ‘save Black women, prioritize Black men and prioritize Black communities, Black businesses, and the Black spaces.’ But save America, save the Democratic Party? Yeah, I don’t think that’s happening.”

The American Tribune reported on similar comments from ABC’s “The View” where co-host Sunny Hostin attacked “uneducated white women” over their unanticipated support for former President Trump. Hostin said, “Black women tried to save this country again, last night… what we do not have is white women, who voted about 52 percent for Donald Trump — uneducated white women is my understanding. You have Latino men actually, voting more for him.”
Failing to understand why more women weren’t single-issue voters on the topic of abortion, Hostin asked a guest on the panel. “So why do you think uneducated white women voting against their reproductive health freedoms, and why do you think Latino men voted in favor of someone who is going to deport a majority of his community.” However, Hostin did receive pushback from co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin, who noted that white women who voted for Trump would not take kindly to be labeled “uneducated” for their decision.
