On Wednesday of this past week, former President Donald Trump visited East Palestine, Ohio. His visit was meant to provide some relief to the disaster-stricken town and draw attention to the Biden Administration not helping the residents enough in the wake of the Norfolk Southern train derailment. To provide relief, Trump both delivered thousands of bottles of water to the residents and bought both residents and first responders burgers at McDonald’s while handing out signed Trump hats.
Speaking to the residents while delivering that aid, Trump said “You are not forgotten. We stand with you. We pray for you. And we will stand with you and your fight to help ensure the accountability that you deserve.”
No good act ever goes unpunished, however, so the woke left attacked Trump for the visit and even went so far as to blame the townspeople for the tragedy. Specifically, Joy Behar did so on ABC’s “The View,” saying that they were getting what they voted for. In her words:
“I don’t know why they would ever vote for him, somebody who, by the way, he placed someone with deep ties to the chemical industry in charge of the EPA’s chemical safety office. That’s who you voted for in that district — Donald Trump, who reduces all safety”
“I blame Donald Trump!!!”

Her co-host, Sunny Hostin, blamed the Trump Administration as well. She, however, refrained from going so far as to blame the residents of the town. Hostin, speaking on the issue, said:
“This is serious stuff. And this did happen under the Trump administration. Republicans talking about small government and less regulations. Well, this is what happens when you allow companies to regulate themselves. When you allow companies to not be good corporate citizens and grade themselves, they give themselves an ‘A’ every single time. Just like I would. Grade myself, I’d get an ‘A.‘”
“And these people are going to suffer because of those things that happened. I’m not saying only Trump did it. I know the Obama administration could have been better about climate change and chemicals, I think the Clinton administration could have been better, but I thought we saw a real shift when it came to deregulation and the Trump administration.”
Appearing on Fox and Friends, a resident of East Palestine named Ashley Bennett tore into Behar and “The View” for her comments in which she blamed the people of the town, saying:
“It’s not time to play politics. These people are real American people. They have names. Their children have names. Their pets have names.
“I think that we need to set politics aside, and we really need to get the help in here for the people that need it.”
Watch that here:
Behar’s comment was so outrageous that even former host of “The View” Meghan McCain skewered her for it, saying “The people of east Palestine are currently in fear that they and their children will be getting cancer or worse from the derailment toxins in their land and water. This is just an evil thing to say. I would say I can’t fathom this level of cruelty and elitism but sadly… I can”
