Speaking with podcast host Joe Rogan on Friday, October 25, former President Donald Trump sounded off on what the two men characterized as utterly obvious bias displayed by ABC News moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis during the presidential debate that ABC News hosted in September, particularly in terms of their fact-checking.
As background, both Muir and Davis incorrectly “fact-checked” former President Donald Trump multiple times during the date. One such fact-check included a claim that full-term abortion is not permitted in any state, ignoring that it is allowed in numerous states. Another fake fact-check had to do with crime numbers.
Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris was not fact-checked on numerous utterly false claims, such as her claim that multiple police officers were killed on January 6, false statements about her past positions, and her pushing of the entirely-debunked “very fine people” hoax about what Trump said in Charlottesville in 2017.
Rogan, hammering the ABC News moderators over their utter and obvious bias during the debate, said, “They fact-checked you and they didn’t fact-check her.” Continuing, he said, “And one of the most egregious examples of that was when she said that there is there are no troops right now deployed in war zones. There’s a very famous viral video that went online of troops in a war zone saying, ‘well what the f**k are we doing then,’ because there’s thousands of them.”
Moving from that specific example of bias and fake fact-checking from the awful debate moderators, Rogan argued that if there is going to be a debate, then both sides have to be fact-checked, not just one side. He said, “But the point is, if this is going to be an actual real debate and not a propaganda exercise, it was going to be a real debate, you have to fact-check everybody.”
Continuing, Rogan argued that what the fake fact checks showed was that the network’s moderators were either lying on purpose or the moderators were utterly uninformed, both of which are “terrible.” He said, “So it’s one of two things it’s either it was not true and was a lie on purpose, which is terrible, or it was the opposite, it was ignorance, which is also terrible.” Watch Rogan here:
Relatedly, Rogan also spoke about freedom of speech and censorship during the lengthy podcast interview, arguing that the Republicans are the “rebels” now because they are the ones who want to speech freely while the left is trying to shut down free speech and regulate the First Amendment out of existence.
He said, “The rebels are Republicans now. They’re like, you want to be a rebel? You want to be punk rock? You want to buck the system? You’re a conservative now. That’s how crazy, and then the liberals are now pro-silencing criticism. They’re pro-censorship online. They’re talking about regulating free speech and regulating the First Amendment. It’s bananas to watch.”
Trump, on a similar note to that and the discussion of the ABC News fake fact checks, noted that they’re waging a lawfare war on him, saying, “Sure, they come after their political opponent. I’ve got more guys. I always say, you know, I kid, but I’m not kidding. I’ve been investigated more than Alphonse Capone. He was the meanest of them all. He’d kill you in two seconds if he didn’t like you, right?”
He added, “But you know what they did? They did something that’s only done in third world countries. They came after their political opponent. I could have put Crooked Hillary in jail,” he added, to which Rogan replied, “Well, not only that, but they’re now weaponizing it by saying that that’s what you’re going to do once you get in office.”
