WATCH: Jim Acosta Ridiculed for Ridiculous Live on Air Stunt He Pulled in Attempt to Keep His Job

CNN continues facing a steep ratings fall off, a potential disaster for the woke news company as it struggles to retain viewers after demolishing its credibility in the first Trump Administration. As part of its effort to recover from that ratings tailspin, it is firing some anchors and moving others around.

Amongst those flailing, failing anchors moved was Jim Acosta, who has a rocky relationship with President Trump and is reportedly to be moved from late night to daytime, and freaked out when that happened, making a fool of himself as he tried to prove his worth to the network in a bizarre segment about how he supposedly speaks truth to power.

In the segment at issue, the woke anchor both praised himself for his many supposed accomplishments and commented on President Biden’s warning about the press. Biden, as background, said, “Americans are being buried under an avalanche of misinformation and disinformation enabling the abuse of power. The free press is crumbling. Editors are disappearing. Social media is giving up on fact-checking. The truth is smothered by lies told for power and for profit.”

Acosta, commenting on that, said, “[President Biden] warned the free press is crumbling in this country. I would add that’s only if we, the people, let that happen.” Continuing, he added, praising his profession, “Journalists exist to seek the truth, to tell people stories, to lift up voices that may not be heard otherwise.”

He then claimed to be a defender of the people and someone who holds power accountable, saying, “To shine a light on injustice and hold the powerful accountable. We are not the enemy of the people. We are the defender of the people.” As if all that wasn’t bad enough, he then made an utter fool of himself by holding up a bright pink sign that said, “I march for Jim Acosta and a free press.”

Describing the history of the sign, given to him after he was banned from the White House briefing room by the first Trump administration and before courts allowed him back in, he said, “A woman sent me a sign eight years ago; she carried here at a march in Washington. She wrote on the back of the sign to me and the press here in DC, ‘you have our support,’ To Nora, wherever you are, right back at ya.”

Then, as if even that was not enough and he needed to further make a fool of himself, Acosta played a clip of both Republicans and Democrats slamming him. He used that clip of the unvarnished, bipartisan criticism of him to “prove” that he is not biased but rather fair and unbiased in his reporting. Watch Acosta here:

As could be expected, commenters on X found that contention was laughable. For example, Glenn Greenwald wrote, “This nakedly partisan b**** really does think he’s the Conscience of America.” He added, “Never seen a more self-important, sanctimonious blow hard in my entire life. And no, I’ll never get over the fact that he wrote a book bought by dumb liberals where he depicted himself as endangered.”

On much the same note, another commenter on X wrote, “You are not ‘we the people.’ You represent an industry that is more interested in pushing a viewpoint.” Continuing, that poser went on to then add, “Until you start serving ‘we the people,’ you should continue to slide into irrelevance.”
