Conservative commentator Benny Johnson recently discussed former first lady Jill Biden’s new memoir on his podcast, pointing out how the book has brought in lackluster sales, providing additional proof that her husband, former President Joe Biden, was not nearly as popular as so many Democrats have attempted to make him out to be.
During the segment, Johnson spent significant time explaining how presidential races are essentially popularity contests. Whichever candidate has managed to pull in the most public interest and connected with American voters the most is likely going to be the person who ends up moving into the White House. The popular podcaster pointed out that former President Barack Obama drew in 69 million votes, which was 10 million more than the GOP nominee at the time.
Obama’s victory was a landslide. Clearly, people liked him more. A few years later, in the 2012 election, Obama lost some steam as more and more individuals caught on to his underlying socialist beliefs and policies, according to Johnson. During the 2020 presidential election, Joe Biden is said to have pulled in 81 million votes. This, according to the left, made him one of the most popular presidents ever. But the sad sales numbers for Jill Biden’s book tells a very different story.
Johnson revealed on his program that the former first lady’s book only sold 20,000 copies over the course of two weeks. And yet, the book, titled, “View from the East Wing,” has somehow landed on the New York Times bestseller list. The conservative commentator then pondered how in the world, if Joe Biden was such a popular president, this new memoir by his wife could tank so badly?
“Her husband got 81 million votes, so this would be less than 1% of 1% of 1% of the votes that her husband got for president. All they’d have to do is buy her book, but that’s not happening. Well, isn’t that strange? This is from writers for Axios roasting Joe Biden. Look at this, Joe Biden’s memoir comes with the dreaded dagger with the retailers reporting bulk orders. So, what does that mean? This means that Jill Biden has rigged the system. A dagger indicates that some retailers report receiving old orders,” Johnson said.
“This means that Joe Biden, and let me tell you what. I know exactly how this operation works, because I have plenty of friends who’s trying to sell their books. Joe Biden gets wealthy donors to go buy 20,000 copies of her book, right? You get, you do a favor, Joe will go speak, or you’ll all go speak, or will endorse, or whatever. If you just buy 10,000 copies of my book, and that is a game that is played, played with regularity, and it’s also a humiliation tactic, right?” he continued.
Johnson then reported that while Jill Biden’s book debuted at number one, the listing contained a dagger, which means that retailers were receiving massive bulk orders, suggesting that political groups bought a lot of copies of the memoir to boost the sales numbers. He then goes on to say that the book is an attempt to whitewash Joe Biden’s presidency and to provide cover for the way he was treated by those around him, which to discerning viewers and readers was a clear-cut case of elder abuse.
