If there are two people in politics who are far less personable and charismatic than every single other person in politics, they would be current Vice President Kamala Harris and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Neither is regarded by most people as at all charismatic, much less extremely so. Yet, speaking on MSNBC, former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki claimed that Kamala will do well because she is “charismatic” like Hillary is.
That comment from Psaki came during MSNBC’s Thursday, August 22, coverage of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Speaking about the Democratic nominee in 2024, Vice President Kamala Harris, Psaki, who now works at MSNBC as a host, said that Kamala Harris, known to us on the right for her word salads and awkward laughing, is “charismatic” like Hillary Clinton.
Particularly, Psaki claimed that in person, Kamala is quite charismatic. She said that Harris has this “magical charismatic quality in person.” Continuing, she noted that many other politicians have much the same in-person charisma, saying, “So do a lot of politicians.” While that is true enough, she then claimed that Hillary has such charisma, which is doubtful. She said, “People say that about Hillary Clinton, also true.” Watch her make that wild claim here:
Jen Psaki states that Kamala Harris is as likeable as Hillary Clinton:

Psaki has been a Harris booster throughout the summer. For example, in mid-July, before Biden dropped out of the race, Psaki said that Kamala is a great alternative. She said, “There is a question out there that, again, I think campaigns are talking about, about the alternative and the alternative is very clearly in my view — there’s a lot of really amazing Democrats on the bench, but because of the timeline and everything, I think it is clearly Kamala Harris.”
“I don’t why there hasn’t been kind of an overwhelming ‘Kamala would be a great president and she would be a fierce, amazing campaigner,’ right? But that’s not typically the message. I’m observing what people are saying. It’s typically ‘don’t take it away from Kamala Harris if it’s open, that would be unfair,’” Psaki then added, questioning why Democrats aren’t more comfortable with her as a candidate.
More recently, Psaki had the ridiculous take that Trump is “unraveling” as Kamala does a wonderful job. That came on Sunday, August 18, the day before the Chicago DNC began. She said, “But now, for the first time, perhaps, in his political career, Donald Trump is losing the battle for attention. And he’s losing it because Kamala Harris is beating him at his own game.”
Continuing, she claimed, “Now, that dynamic is very clearly driving Trump insane. He only has one bag of tricks. I mean, a racist comment here, a crazy conspiracy there.” She added that she sees Trump as “completely unraveling” at his public appearances like speeches and press conferences and that, in her opinion, the “best case scenario is boring and small” for Trump events.
She further claimed, similarly ridiculously, “Now Kamala Harris and Tim Walz have stolen the show. And everything they’re doing right now, Harris and Walz are shrinking him down to the aging, confused, boring, rambling Donald Trump, who he really is.” She added, “They’re holding the huge rallies, generating the crowds and the headlines, which makes him seem small. They’re putting out biting, funny press releases, which makes him seem small.”
