Vice President JD Vance filled in for White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt during the White House Press Briefing on Tuesday, May 19, and did a terrific job during that, absolutely thrashing the woke media and refusing to back down at all as he did so in what a glorious display of verbal jousting skill that put the media on its back foot.
Such came in particular when he feuded with CNN’s Kaitlin Collins, calling her out for her leftist absurdity and for her obviously biased and misleading claims as they fought over the news that the President is putting together a large fund to help the victims of Deep State lawfare against them.
That fund came out of the president’s lawsuit feud with the IRS. In exchange for dropping a $10 billion lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service, the president has gotten $1.766 billion to fund a program that will disburse funding to those who are deemed to be victims of government weaponization.
Collins, of course, used that to attack the Administration and the Vice President, angrily asking during the afternoon press conference, “You previously told me that anyone who assaulted a police officer on January 6th should go to prison. So why not rule out giving them taxpayer-funded money?”
Responding, Vance said that the money will be disbursed on a case-by-case basis and so he isn’t going to rule out any group categorically. “Well, Kaitlan, what I said is we’re going to look at everything case-by-case,” Vance told her. Collins, angrilly interjecting, snapped, “But why not rule it out?”
Refusing to back down, JD Vance then argued that the totality of the circumstances are going to be taken into account as the victims of lawfare are examined, saying, “Because Kaitlin, there are people who I don’t know their individual circumstances, and I don’t rule things out categorically when I know nothing about a person’s individual circumstances.”
Further, the vice president added, “Let’s say a person is accused, let’s just say hypothetically, a person who is accused of doing something that they never actually did that they got a kangaroo court that they had a judge who mistreated them. I think that we should look at those things case-by-case. We’re not making commitments to give anybody money. We’re just making commitments to look at things case-by-case.” Collins kept insisting that the J6ers are guilty and have been found guilty.

Watch them here:
Speaking to Shannon Bream on Fox News about the situation regarding J6ers and which ones faced in justice during an interview last year, the Vice President said, “I think it’s very simple, look if you protested peacefully on January 6th, and you had Merrick Garland’s Department of Justice treat you like a gang member, you should be pardoned. If you committed violence on that day, obviously you shouldn’t be pardoned. And there’s a little bit of a gray area there.”
That wasn’t all. During the same press conference, Vance roasted a reporter for issuing a lengthy statement disguised as a question. That came when the reporter asked, “The question, sir, is how can you and your administration argue to Americans that you’re cleaning up corruption, you’re preventing fraud, you’re fighting the sorts of things that harm people and people’s financial situations, when the president seems to be talking up stocks that he owns, selling them, and enriching himself?”
Vance, noting how absurd it was, said, “That was a doozy… There are different ways to ask a question. You can just ask a question and try to get your answer. Or you could do a speech where you say, you know, Mr. Vice President, you’re a terrible human being, and so is the president. So is the entire Cabinet.” He added, “And then I’m like, what’s your question? And then your question is, how dare you?” He then said, “Come on, man. Have a little bit of objectivity in the way you ask these questions.”
