Vice President JD Vance vociferously attacked the woke media for trying to get him to betray President Donald J. Trump’s confidence, and commented on how the president and his administration are putting in the hard work necessary to rebuild the American Dream after the devastation wrought by the Obama and Biden years.
As background, Vice President Vance’s comments about both the American Dream and President Trump’s trust in him came on Friday, March 13, when he had traveled to North Carolina to give a speech about the economy. The speech was delivered in Rocky Mount, N.C., on Friday afternoon, as the VP visited a congressional district that Republicans hope to flip red in the November midterms.
Broaching the matter of what he and Trump have said about the ongoing Operation Epic Fury in Iran, a reporter asked, “What did you advise the president initially as he considered his actions in Iran and what are you urging him to do now…do you express any concerns like those you’ve expressed in the past on the possibility of these extended wars?”
Firing back, VP Vance said that he would not betray the trust the president has placed in him regarding keeping conversations private. Imagine the situation, we’re in the Situation Room…and the president and I, and the entire senior team, are talking about the options…,” the Vice President began.
Continuing, he said that he would disappoint the media rather than reveal what had been said in a classified setting, saying, “I hate to disappoint you, but I’m not gonna show up here and in front of God and everybody else tell you exactly what I said in that classified room.”
Explaining why, he noted that not only would doing so be illegal, but he will not betray President Trump’s trust. He said, “Partially because I don’t wanna go to prison, and partially because I think it’s important for the president of the United States to be able to talk to his advisors without those advisors running their mouth to the American media.” Watch that here:

Later on, the same reporter asked him about much the same issue, pressing him on the attacks on Iran, doing so as he boarded Air Force 2 to leave North Carolina. The reporter asked, “Mr. Vice President, the President said earlier this week that you had a philosophical difference with him, that you were less enthusiastic about the onset of this war. Is that true, and what is your opinion of how it’s going?”
Responding, Vance again explained that he would not betray the president’s trust. He said, “Well, I think, you know—again, I answered this question earlier. I’m sorry about that, Taylor. You asked this question earlier. When you’re thinking about a major decision like this, the way the President makes these decisions is he talks to a lot of people.”
He added, “Obviously, we’re thinking of various ins and outs, various options—what this looks like, how to accomplish our goals, what our goals should be. And I think it’s important for the President of the United States to be able to have that conversation with his team without his team running their mouths to the American media. So part of what makes our national security team so cohesive is that we all trust each other and we all have a very free exchange of ideas. I’d like to keep that going.”
In any case, during the same speech in Rocky Mount, VP Vance commented on how Trump is restoring the American dream. Beginning that bit by noting that the president is working hard to get the job done on many issues as quickly as possible, the VP explained, “The president is impatient, he’s the most impatient person I have ever met, in fact. He constantly is pressing on the gas.”
Continuing, he noted how the administration is working to rebuild the American Dream, saying, “He wants us to do more, but I stand here proud to say that after the first year of President Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans’ leadership, we are rebuilding the American dream, and we are taking back this country for the people of this state.”
