WATCH: JD Vance Cracks Hilarious Joke about Dead People Voting Democrat

Vice President JD Vance cracked a hilarious joke during a speech that made far-left Democrats practically blow steam out of their ears, suggesting that “dead people vote Democrat.” Leftists immediately took deep offense at the accusation of voter fraud and accused him of bringing dead conspiracy theories back to life, claiming they have been repeatedly disputed by investigations and research reports.

Vance made the joke during a visit to Maine on Thursday, where he discussed the Trump administration’s efforts to take on alleged election fraud ahead of Maine’s upcoming primary races. His appearance was centered around fighting fraud, rather than emphasizing economic efforts, which he talked about at length in previous campaign-style events.

Unsurprisingly, the comments sparked massive backlash from liberals online, with many critics claiming that Vance was resurrecting long-debunked narratives connected to the highly controversial 2020 presidential election. “This is why MAGA believes these conspiracy theories, because their leadership keeps feeding them,” an angry user wrote on X.

According to a report from Hindustan Times, the joke echoed past allegations the left says were repeatedly pushed by President Donald Trump and several other Republicans at the time. President Trump claimed that thousands of ballots were cast in the names of dead voters in the key battleground state of Georgia, which he just barely lost in 2020.

“Nobody was looking at this. Nobody was asking difficult questions, like, for example, ‘are dead people getting food stamps?’ Call me old-fashioned, but I don’t think dead people need to eat,” Vance said during his address. “I don’t believe they need food stamps.” At this point, someone in the crowd shouts, “They vote!” To which Vance responds, “Unfortunately, they vote for Democrats, they don’t vote for us, my friends.”

Vance’s visit comes as the Pine Tree State is gearing up for primary elections, which are scheduled for June 9, 2026, where candidates for governor, the U.S. Senate, and the House of Representatives will be selected as nominees. The trip followed comments made by Dr. Mehmet Oz, who is currently the head of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, who has called for corrective action to fix alleged fraud in Maine’s government health programs.

In a clip of the joke shared on Fox News’ official Facebook page, a commenter wrote, “Voter rolls should be expunged every year to remove dead people.” Another praised the vice president, going on to write, “Old-fashioned is good in this case. God bless you, Vice President, thank you genuinely for all the hard work you do for our country.” Someone else wrote, “We love you, JD!! Keep fighting. You’ve got an army behind you!”

A study was done many years ago, in 2012, that found over 1.8 million dead people were still registered to vote. The study also found that a whopping 24 million registrations were either invalid or inaccurate. And that was over 13 years ago. One reason this happens, according to election officials, is that Americans move around a lot compared to other nations. When they change addresses, they rarely inform the local election office.
