In a recent conversation with Fox News host Lara Trump, the Vice President expressed reluctance to focus on future political ambitions, emphasizing his commitment to his current role in the administration. Additionally, Vance noted that any potential future run for office, whether within the Republican Party or nationally, would require hard work and not be handed to him.
For context, Vance considers her current role to be the most significant of his career, second only to fatherhood, and aims to perform it diligently. Additionally, he noted that many Americans feel angered by politicians who prioritize future campaigns over their present responsibilities.
In any case, the interaction began with Lara Trump asking Vance a simple question. She started, “A lot of people think that you will be running for president in 2028. Can we expect that?” Replying honestly, the VP answered, “I just think that I don’t like thinking about it, because I like thinking about the job that I have right now.”
Continuing his humble answer, Vance stated, “If we do a good job in 2025 and 2026, then we can talk about the politics in 2027, but I really think the American people are so fed up with folks who are already running for the next job seven months into the current one. There are a lot of great people.”
Building on this point, Vance said that he’d have to keep fighting for his future positions and wouldn’t be able to rest on his laurels. The VP declared, “I think if I do end up running, it’s not going to be given to me, either on the Republican side or on the national side, so I’m just going to keep on working hard.”
Concluding his comments, the VP noted how seriously he was taking the role, saying, “I think this is the most important job that I’ve ever had. It may be the most important job I’ve ever had, outside of being a father to those three beautiful kids. So I’m gonna, I’m gonna try to do my best job. And I think if I do that, the politics will figure itself out.”
As we reported, following a public feud with the president, Elon Musk has shelved his plans to start a third party and thrown his support behind Vance for 2028. Explaining his future plans, the VP said, “I see myself as the vice president trying to do a good job for the American people, Kristen, and if I do a good job, and if the president continues to be successful as I know that he will be, the politics will take care of itself.”

Speaking about a possible campaign, Vance noted, “We can cross that bridge when we come to it, but we just had an election seven months ago, and I’m probably like most Americans, and I’m sick of talking about politics after a big general election.”
