Country music legend Jason Aldean recently said that President Donald Trump will usher the United States into a new “era” of politics. The singer performed a 30-minute set after Trump’s inauguration at the Liberty Bell on Monday. While Aldean has generally avoided becoming entangled with publics he has been a longtime Trump supporter.
Speaking about the state of American politics during a recent appearance on “CBS Mornings,” Aldean expressed that he hopes Trump will bring the country together. “The last few years have been… kind of really divisive and just a lot of stuff going on, and I just hope this is kind of the beginning of a new era for our country and kind of get back on track,” he said during the interview.
Furthermore, Aldean lauded the president for his Make America Great Again agenda to revive the nation. “I think the thing with President Trump is, I think he wants to do great things for the American people and the country,” Aldean said. Moreover, he noted his worry about the direction the country has been headed in, especially as a parent.
However, Aldean is clearly confident that President Trump is the right person to lead the nation through such a tumultuous time. “And he’s a guy that I feel like when he says something, he tries to get it done,” the country star said. “He’s not just telling you. You know, I feel like a lot of times politicians will just tell you things — just to make it sound good. And I feel like he’s a guy that actually wants to go get it done.”
Aldean also echoed the widespread sentiment toward Trump that he doesn’t “talk like a politician.” The president is known for his massive rallies which continually draw tens of thousands of supporters for this very reason. “He wasn’t that guy. He was a guy that kind of spoke my language and just kind of… put it in layman’s terms for me a little bit,” Aldean said.
Last September, The American Tribune reported on comments from Aldean at a concert, where her urged his fans to vote in November, emphasizing the sheer importance of the election. The singer stressed that if his fans wanted to stop “s***” happening in America, that they needed to hit the ballot box. While he didn’t explicitly tell the crowd to vote for Trump, he highlighted the importance of their civic duties.
“It’s a crazy a** time when the media makes me out to be the a**hole for calling out people doing stupid s**t. … This country is crazy. It’s gotten really weird over the last few years and I will say this: November is a huge month for our country. Huge month,” he said. “It’s not my place to stand up here and tell you who to vote for and who not to vote for. That ain’t my business. It ain’t my place to tell you that. But what I will say is, I see a lot of … younger people out here … People that can actually vote now – you’re of age to vote,” he continued.
