Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) let flow a river of crocodile tears during comments she delivered in a plea to Republican lawmakers following the shooting death of anti-ICE agitator Renee Good by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent she attempted to run down with her vehicle in Minneapolis. Her display, which many conservatives are calling political theater, was given during a hearing for the U.S. House Committee on the Judiciary.
During the hearing, Crockett expressed her deep frustration with her GOP colleagues over advancing legislation that she said unfairly targeted immigrants and eliminated cash bail. “It is so hard to sit here sometimes because I didn’t come to Congress to write laws or to do things that are hurting people. I’m just asking if there’s any decency or heart or courage on that side of the aisle,” the 44-year-old Texas congresswoman, who is now running for Senate, went on to say during the hearing.
Referencing Good, a 37-year-old mother, who took it upon herself to obstruct an ICE operation with her vehicle and ultimately tried to run over an officer, Crockett, pushing herself to get emotional, said, “The fact that a woman was killed, she was shot in her head, and y’all are pretending like nothing happened.” She then added, “I remember when Charlie Kirk got killed. …Do you remember what our response was? Our response wasn’t to sit there and pretend like it was OK.”
According to The Grio, Crockett went on to suggest that the GOP is standing up for the ICE agent involved in the incident at the expense of justice because the agent has a “badge.” Crockett stated, “The last time I checked, allegedly, no one is above the law.” The Texas Democrat added, “Can y’all not just have a little bit of courage and humanity? I am asking if there is anyone that will stand for the very people that elected us and sent us to Congress.”
The legislation that was being marked up during the Judiciary Committee hearing addressed issues such as requiring federal contractors to participate in an E-verify program that would make sure those they hired for work were in the country legally. Another measure that was discussed concerned the elimination of federal grant money from states and local governments that limit the use of cash bail.
The video clip of the congresswoman’s performance was posted on social media platform X, where users took time to express their feelings about Crockett’s emotional display. “Did you think calling us “Nazis” for a decade then asking us to stand with you would happen?” One individual wrote. Another simply posted a meme that featured an image of a box of miniature Crocketts with a sign on it that said, “Dumber than a box of Crocketts.”
Another commenter pointed out the fact that when Kirk was assassinated, the left posted tons of videos celebrating his death, but the right didn’t take that route when Good was killed. “No one celebrated Renee’s death. HUGE difference. If that ICE agent was ran over and killed, they’d be celebrating that too,” the user said.

Yet another replied to the post saying, “This is an idiotic comparison from a very low IQ person. How is she in Congress? Are the people who elected her just as stupid?” A commenter then noted the irony in the statement Crockett made about Kirk by pointing out what she said about the conservative icon in the past. “That’s ironic since [she] thought Kirk was a white supremacist.”
