WATCH: James Comer Vows to Investigate Ilhan Omar’s Suspiciously “Skyrocketing” Wealth

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) is now being investigated after lawmakers have grown suspicious of her family’s ever-expanding bank accounts as fraud scandals connected to the Somali community continue to be uncovered in her home state of Minnesota. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) recently told reporters with the New York Post that staff lawyers are thinking about subpoenaing Omar’s husband, Tim Mynett, concerning his business practices.

Comer, speaking with the press, promised that he and the committee were dedicated to getting answers through either the Ethics Committee or the Oversight Committee, when talking about how the couple went from practically being broke to having a net worth of up to $30 million over the course of a year to two years.

In 2025, Omar flat out denied that she and her husband were worth millions of dollars, stating that conservatives were targeting her unfairly. Comer told the Post, “There are a lot of questions as to how her husband accumulated so much wealth over the past two years. It’s not possible. It’s not. I’m a money guy. It’s not possible.”

According to Breitbart, Comer told investigative journalist Catherine Herridge that, “Her net worth, just out of nowhere, skyrocketed”, going on to add that officials “know” it is somehow connected to the two investment funds her husband operates. “We have a lot of questions about where the money came from, how do you make that much in fees in a short period of time,” the chairman said.

The outlet also pointed out that a source within law enforcement stated they are currently carrying out investigations into politicians who might be connected to the Democrat-run state’s fraud scandal. “We are investigating all politicians potentially connected to any of this [fraud] in Minnesota. You can read between the lines,” said the source. The source then slammed the previous Biden administration for not taking any action to resolve the problem, adding that Trump and his team are “on top of it.”

The comments from the source, according to the Post, come after it was discovered that the FBI was briefed during Biden’s time in office about suspicions concerning a number of companies run by Omar’s husband. Reports have been published stating that Omar has a lot of connections to organizations, businesses, and individuals who have been named in the various cases that have unveiled major fraud in Minnesota’s welfare schemes. These cases have totaled over a billion dollars in stolen taxpayer money.

Omar has held several events and parties at a local establishment called the Safari Restaurant. The eatery has been named in a few of the investigations concerning fraud. The owners of the restaurant, Slaim Said and Aimee Bock, have already been convicted in the Feeding Our Future case that bilked $250 million from the state of Minnesota in child food aid. The program was initially created to help ease hunger and suffering for children during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On January 5, 2026, President Donald Trump promised the American people that he would soon bring the funding going toward the fraud and corruption in the Democrat-run states of Minnesota, California, and Illinois.
